Great Functions, But Easy to Damage 2000-01-23
This device works great, but easy to damage. I'm now on my second Rex in the past year. On my first one - I broke the screen - my fault - I should not have had it in my pocket. On my second Rex, the "home" button (the top one) just stopped working. I can still use it, but with difficulty, and now have to push the "reset" button on the back to do the same function as the home button. I'm not sure if I want to spend the money for another, but even after having trouble with two, I'm still considering it - the Rex is very handy. Another piece of advise - get a hard case for it - they are sold independently - use a search engine to find the numerous web site dedicated to the Rex.

Excellent desktop extension 1999-12-21
I have found this device to be the answer to my dilemma. I am able to take all my desktop PIM information in a convenient, tiny package. And better, it can be easily replaced if lost, broken. Highly recommended for those needing a convenient PIM on wheels.

Don't leave home without it! 1999-12-14
This little gem keeps track of all my important contacts, appointments, notes, and other items. It is a bit difficult to get used to entering data via the buttons on the unit, but if you purchase the docking station (as I did), then it's a breeze. I love the size, because I can carry it with me anywhere I go, and so I always have access to all my important information anytime.

512KB may not seem like a whole lot of memory, but you'll be amazed as to how much information that translates into.

If you have problems trying to input data while you're in a hurry, then do as I do, I carry a small writing tablet that I use for quick notes, and then I enter them into the REX.

I had an Everex unit (similar to the Palm), but it was too bulky for me to carry around comfortably.

The tiny Rex gets my vote. I love it!

Exceptional product 1999-12-13
I looked extensively at Palm PDA's, etc. before choosing the Rex Pro 5. Decided to purchase this very compact, effective PDA since 95% of the time I need to reference a PDA for an appointment, phone number, etc. as opposed to finding the need to input data into it while away from the office. The Palm, etc, is too large to carry unobtrusively; the Rex Pro 5 easily fits into my pocket and weighs just over an ounce. Best business accessory I have found to increase my efficienct/productivity. Highly recommended!

Good but get the Rex 3 1999-12-03
Excellent product but data entry is painful. I find I mostly do my input from my laptop now. Also seems quite fragile. Heard may stories where to screen cracks. So far no problems, carry it in my wallet or in my pocket. Buy the Rex 3 not the five, save some cash and use your computer to do your data entry.

Great tool for teachers! 1999-09-18

Ask yourself, what do you want to do? 1999-09-17
Why haul around a Palm or Windows CE device when you only want to check your calendar and look up phone numbers? The Rex Pro fits in a shirt pocket, syncs well with the calendar provided in the software (TrueSync Desktop) and with anything else you want to link to, like Yahoo calendar. Granted, the entry of new data is a bit cumbersome, but you can do most of this on the desktop or notebook calendar. Now that the device syncs both ways, I find it invaluable.

Once you have this, you'll never give it up. 1999-09-07
Amazon's buyer's guide does not do this justice. It may be small, and its data entry may be limited, but having thousands of contacts and all of your calendar info with you ALL the time is far more useful than a bigger more comprehensive device that you don't have with you. This device is so cleverly designed and so portable that you have no excuse to leave it at home, or to fail to update it. Data entry via its six keys is much easier than the reviews would have you believe. The practice it takes to get fast, with the clever drop down menus, is certainly less than the practice of learning special handwriting grafiti and editing commands. In short, it does what you need most in a package that can't be beat for convenience and price. Once you have it for a week, you will be addicted to it and wonder how you ever did without it. It takes up no more space in your pocket than your business card folder, and it holds a supply of those as a bonus.

Goes anywhere 1999-09-04
Just returned from 9 months travelling in SE Asia through the Jungle, etc. . Had this gizmo with me. Contained not only all my addresses, but also visa card #'s, Passport #, etc. . Also downloaded a couple of short LonelyPlanet country update files into it. All in the size of a credit card. Batteries went out after 6 Months. No problem replacing them on the road (also carried another set with me). Best thing I ever bought for a trip like that.

Oh, for the road like that, the version that permits you to add data is handy. The output only version is fine for home use, although it's quite a bit slower than the Rex 5.

Great product! 1999-08-02
After having a PalmPilot and a Nino (Palm CE) I have found out, that all I need is to browse through my calendar, my contacts and my todo's. I discovered that I never (almost - a quick meeting is ok to schedule through the Rex 5) entered data from the PDA. If you are working the same way, buy this product. I even got a $30 back from Franklin in the introduction.
