Awesome little toy

My kid loves this thing. It actually plays and you have to hold down keys for it to play a note. One of the more used toys we have.
TERRIBLE!!!!

I thought I did my homework, I read the reviews and thought I was getting a toy sax for my 4 year old. I thought this product would be somewhat durable. I wasn't expecting real metal or anything like that. It came in the mail today and I am TERRIBLY disappointed. It is made out of the CHEAPEST plastic you can get. I am sure this is going to break with in a day of my son getting it. The plastic reminds me of the same material as those plastic easter eggs you can get. Anyway, this is not worth even a dollar in my book. I would love to send it back, but this it seems is the only toy sax out there, and my son has his heart set on getting one. I have never written a review for a product on Amazon before, but this is the biggest piece of cr*p, I felt that I needed to.

Our daughter is two years old and loves her Bontempi musical instruments. We are trying to teach her the importance of gentle handling though - due to the light construction of bodies and keys/valves.
Like all "Bontempi" instruments!

This is part of our collection which includes this Saxophone, a trumpet, a clarinet, and violin. Our 6-year old twins have used them since Christmas 2006 and we all enjoy them. Not too loud and challenging enough to keep them interested (have to blow and hold keys at same time).

I purchased this Saxophone for my 23 month old son. Actually I got it for my 13 year old niece to give to my son for Christmas. She plays the saxophone well. My son loves music, loves to listen to her play, and loves to plunk on the piano and dance. I figured this sax would be a little too old for him but I still thought he would like it. He really loves it and is actually able to play some notes after just a few sessions with it. Given that I paid $[...] for this I wasn't really sure what I would receive. I have to say I was extremely pleased with this instrument. I believe they sell a variety of instruments and I would buy anything from this company. The sound is actually quite nice. The look too. As far as durability goes I'm not sure I've just had it for a couple weeks now. I do worry that my little guy will break it because he is so young so I tend to watch him carefully when he chooses to play with this. He has banged it around a little on the floor and tabletop and so far it has withstood that. Obviously this shouldn't be done. I would highly recommend this instrument to anyone who would like to inspire a young one to play an instrument and or experiment with music.
It is what it needs to be for kids

This best selling gift item is a sure hit for your child! Features 8 colored real working keys and includes several color coded songs printed on the box Jungle Bells, Oh! Susanna and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.. For ages 3 and up. Measures 16 1/4". This Bontempi toy saxophone is a part of the ORCHESTRA program of toys using the educative method of seven colours - seven tones makes it easier for children to study notes and play the instrument itself. Children's musical toys of the Italian company are educative musical toys which from the early days of childhood develop love for music, musical memory and sense for rhythm.
My 3 1/2 year old loves it

My son loves musical instruments and this was a big hit. Easy to use, and the keys actually work. Wish it came with a song book, but he is learning by ear. Lots of fun!! He went back to it all day on Christmas. Highly recommended.
Takes effort to play, but it's inspiring

My little guy (who was two at the time) likes musical instruments of all sorts. So I got this for him as a surprise treat. He loved it, but couldn't play it because you have to press the buttons and blow it at the same time. I figured this out (there were no instructions) and showed him how to do it. Next, he had trouble blowing hard enough to get a sound. But because he liked it so much, he tried and tried until he got it right. He feels really good about it, which is why I said it was inspiring. After that, it may take a while before he could play a tune. But he plays his own make up tunes on it. The instrument itself is lightweight, plastic with a silver coating. It's very shiny and attractive. For the price, I wouldn't mind getting another if this one gets beat up. I think one should keep it away from young babies though who might try to bite it. The red mouthpiece also comes off easily.

we gave this along with the clarinet and trumpet to my 3 yr old grandson. they have all held up good and he is a typical 3 yr old, sometimes rough with his toys. he loves all of them and is catching on to how to play on them! one of them arrived not working correctly and it was immediately replaced, no cost to us. i am very satisfied and i love seeing him have so much fun and entertain us all.

I looked everywhere for a "zaskaphone" for my four year olds birthday...he had wanted one for months. This is the only one that I found that was actually 100% child-wind powered. I has no lights or batteries, and was exactly what he wanted. Fun for kids to learn about instruments and toys that arent complicated and electronic!
