Editorial Review
Don't miss a note when you're running or roller-blading with the Koss PortaPro stereo headphones, which are collapsible for maximum portability when listening on the go. With a rated bandwidth of 15 Hz to 25 kHz, the PortaPro is said to provide the low-distortion reproduction of home headphones. Other features include dynamic element design for deep bass performance, Comfort Zone setting on temporal pad for comfortable and secure fit, multi-pivoting earplates and adjustable headband for added comfort, 1/8" and 1/4" stereo plugs for home and portable use, convenient carrying case and straight, dual entry 4 foot cord.

great value and design 2008-07-13
These headphones are impressive. The dynamic range is excellent, they are comfortable, and they fold neatly into a small leather pouch. The feature that allows you to adjust soft to firm for the ear pads is a bit tricky to learn to use, but this is a nit. Overall, highly recommended.

Good price Good Product 2008-07-13
Ear Buds are a disaster. I just discovered this. I am over 50 and figured my hearing was going (which to a certain degree it is of course). After increasing the ripping quality for my CDs and still having issues with hearing stuff I decided to look into ear phones as a possible problem.

They sure were...these are great for the gym. I also bought some Sanheisers (SP?) for twice the price and they are great also but too heavy for the gym. And too goofy looking even for me on a tread mill.

I recommend this product.

Excellent headphone 2008-07-12
Great highs, mids and lows, for a $35.00 headphone you cannot go wrong... period. I have the Sennheiser px100 and may like these even more. More life and dynamics.

best sounding for the $$$ 2008-07-12
I own many sets of cans. Maxell, Sony, Sennheiser, Grado, Koss, Bose, and a few more in my stereo box. I listen to the Koss porta pros the most, because they sound best with the widest veriety of music. They have great detail in the high and midrange for clasical and accoustical, but also possess fabulous tight bass if you like R&B, hip-hop, jazz. They are almost on par with my Grado SR80's, and being 1/3 the price and more portable, they get listened to the most... Good job Koss, still going strong after all these years!

Tickled Pink 2008-07-12
When I saw some guy on the train wearing these hideous yet retro-ish headphones, I wanted a pair. But had no idea what they were. When I stumbled upon them again, I purchased them right away. Thanks Amazon.

Upon trying them, all the hype on the internet proves true. Deep cello solos to jazz sessions, loud or quite sound phenomenal.
What's great is after using cheapo headsets for so long that now when a great bass comes up or a sweet high, I don't hold my breath to listen to the massacre. Now, there's just music.

Great Phones 2008-07-25
I've used these headphones for years, and I love them. In over twenty years I must have had just three or four pair, which is a testament to how well they are built.
The specs. show us that the frequency range is broad, but numbers don't tell the whole story about just how true the imaging and depth is. Not only do I use them for your everyday listening enjoyment; I find it good when I create music to listen to my songs/mixes in a number of different ways and these headphone have always been an important part of that review.
I have a number of other headphones-both expensive ones and real cheapies, but for the most part these are my favorites.
I've bought others that looked promising via the specs, but didn't do anything for me. In that vein I bought some that looked good in Edinburgh airport and returned them at Heathrow just a little while later. Again they looked promising, but just couldn't hold a candle sonically to the Koss PortaPro.
The connection in the cord (or plug) does wear out; eventually, but with proper storage and usage that shouldn't be all that fast. And while you can get replacements for the foam earpieces (in NYC they will eventually fall apart), I can't find any replacements for the foam part that rests against your skull (temples.)
This part has never worn out completely, but I would like to have the opportunity to make a change if I see the need to.
That being said-I've always liked that they not only sound good, but that they fold up and become so small for travel. The fact that they are so light also adds, a bit, too the comfort of them and they are some of the most comfortable ear pieces I've heard.
I'm particularly against ear buds as I don't think that loud sounds right in your ears are very good for your hearing. That being said no ear phones are very good for you hearing, but if they have to be worn these seem to be among the best.

Koss PortaPro 2008-07-24
Great headphone. It has a incredible 3d sound, just perfect for action movies. The only thing that dissapoints its the cable's lenght, just 4 feet. But from 1 to 10, I would give it a 9.

Great quality 2008-07-23
The Koss PortaPro has wonderful stereo quality. Although the over head design looks like it can easily catch your hair, it hasn't caught mine once. The only downside is there is a lot of sound leakage and it hurts my ears after several hours if I don't put them on perfectly aligned.

I agree withthe others 2008-07-18
Night and day difference between these and either of my old Sony headphones. Blows away Nano earbuds. Money well spent.

Best Affordable Pair of Headphones 2008-07-15
