over 3 years of use! 2008-06-03
I bought these headphones 3 years ago!! I used them quite a lot, and as all the other reviews you can find here, mine broke, yes they did, but looking in the market for other options in the same price range, all I found was that the design of the Sony V700, the sound quality, the durability and the price make them the best option. I just bought my second pair of these and I know the will do the job just good.

Simply Amazing 2008-05-14
I'm a hip hop producer and i ordered these mdr's because i used them once before and i fell absolutely in love with them. And i could never find another pair of headphones there after that really satisfied my needs like the MDR-V700's did. When you put these on it... the only way to describe it is "This Is what music was meant to sound like and what the creator originally intended the listener to perceive" . They can handle low end very very well and the mids and high sparkle like your actually there. sony never fails when it comes to quality and i would give these 6 stars if i could you wont regret your purchase! : D

Robert

Excellent Product 2008-04-28
This is my Third pair of these headphone, The first two were damaged because of my own fault and i keep buying them cause there some of the best headphones you can find for the price. I Use them for EVERYTHING, Movies, Music, and Games. The sound quality is AMAZING, It feels like the sound is live. I found that setting the EQ to Jazz on certain devices that offer it sound the best on these headphones.

Seems Improved over older MDR-V700DJ 2008-04-21
I had severe misgivings about purchasing Sony earphones again after my original (just under 3years old) MDR-V700J stopped producing audio in one ear. After taking the headphones apart, and doing some testing, I discovered the issue was with the audio cable in the headband portion.

So after weighing my options, I went with this model again, they seemed to have addressed the issue of size of the ear cup, as this newer version doesn't compress my ears. The coil on the cord is a little tighter; hopefully this will eliminate some tangle.

Finally what I'm going to do on my end to hopefully prolong the life of my headphone, I won't fold up the headphones every time after use and put them back in the included bag. I'm guessing the audio cable inside the headband portion frayed from wear over time.

As far as audio quality and aesthetics, these head phones are awesome. I use them mostly for music and some FPS gaming. The price / performance ratio was enough to get me to try these again, and hopefully Sony has addressed the durability issue.

Decent sound, but cheaply made 2008-04-02
These were the second pair of headphones I had ever owned and I must say I was very disappointed. First off the sound is OK by my standards, not horrible, but nothing special either. They are also not very comfortable as the padding is fairly thin and they would start to bother me after only 30 minutes of usage. Lastly, they are very cheaply made and one of the side earpieces broke after only 3 months, and I never break anything. Overall this is a poor set of headphones and I'll probably never spend under $200 for another set.

Sony Headphones Review 2008-07-23
These headphones are a must buy. They are very comfortable and have really good sound. I use them for music, games, movies, and tv shows that I play on my computer and the sound is teriffic. They have just the right amount of bass, and are really good for games especially. I would recommend these headphones to anyone. In order for these headphones to last they have to be taken care of really carefully because the plastic that holds the cups on will crack if you're careless. Overall, these headphones are a great purchase and I will buy these again.

Great headphones 2008-07-10
I have only had these headphones for about 2 months but so far my experience with them has been excellent. I use them mostly on my computer or ipod but they also sound great on the stereo using the plug attachment. I am not a dj and never will be, but I listen mostly to rock and these headphones have a good deep bass and clear vocals. They will fit pretty much any size head and have large, well-padded ear cups. They are very comfortable for extended use, I have worn them for hours at a time without any problems at all. Don't block out much noise, but work well in most situations.

They are very comfortable and have great sound, and if you can find a deal on them somewhere, they are one of the best headphones out there.

excellent quality, but big, heavy and too hot 2008-07-06
bought this phone just for casual usage, to listen music and movies at home.

on the plus side, the quality is awesome, excellent bass and good isolation from external noises.

on the minuses, this thing is bulky and super heavy. It causes too much pressure on your head and hurts just a few minutes after putting them on. Also the cups make way too much heat, and you can barely stay with them on after an hour or so.

It may be a good headphone for DJs (that are constantly putting them on and off), but for continuous usage there may be better options.

Amazing for the price! 2008-06-22

The best I've heard! 2008-06-20
I just purchased the Sonys and I'm excited to share the experience. First, I've owned several different headphones in past, the last being the Sony MDR-V6. I thought it would be impossible to improve on them...but Sony has done it.

Comfort: The 700s are all-day comfortable. The earcups fit AROUND your ears, so there is no annoying pressure there. The headband is nicely padded too, so you simply forget you're wearing anything at all. They are 'hefty' and robustly constructed, yet that weight simply disappears once you put them on. They're attractively designed, too...with a professional style.

Sound quality: Like I said earlier, Sony has worked magic here. The resolution and detailing these phones provide will have you hearing things "for the first time"...you'll hear things in music you never knew existed. I am pulling things out of my collection and literally enjoying them for the first time. The bass extension is phenomenal...a concert bass drum-smack or pipe organ will have you giggling like a kid! But they don't stop there...the mids and highs are equally well-produced.

The phones are fairly sensitive too...my small headphone amp drives them quite nicely to db levels that doctors would tell you "no-no!!" But they sound so good...you wanna keep cranking the volume!

Sony thoughtfully provided a nice long cord, too...it's coiled so it doesn't get in the way.

Oh, my...the kickdrum in Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" just about blew my eyeglasses off! Yeehaw!!

Buy them...you will not regret it!
