Nice quality box fits "standard size" Milwaukee corded drills
2008-04-21
This is a nice quality toolbox. Pretty much what one would expect from Milwaukee. It fits the "standard size" pistol-grip corded electric drils very well. In the bottom there is a padded yoke to hold the body of the drill and a pad to absorb shocks from the drill chuck. There is enough room for a driver to be left in the chuck of the Milwaukee Mangnum Drill 0233-20 (or one of the many similar models) when it is in the box.
The box does not fit the Milwaukee cordless drills well, (one would have to remove the battery) but my cordless models come with a form-fitted plastic box.
Fit and finish are nice. The finish seems to be both tougher and thicker than the finish on my Super Sawzall tool case.
There is room for a typical box of 1/16" to 1/2" dril bits in the bottom of the box with the drill, the extra hand grip (unattached), and the cord folded in.
The top tray is adequate for a collection of accessories, like driver bits, right-angle driver, and loose bits. It will not take any of the drill index boxes I own.

This is the only Milwaukee product that I have ever purchased that was poorly made. I ordered 4 power tool carrying cases and all four came with very poor paint jobs. The only good thing that came out of this transaction was that the vendor quickly provided cost free return and credited my account. Unfortunately, the vendor was not able to provide top-quality replacements.
Proper Tool Box

I purchased a Milwaukee 1/2" magnum drill and it didn't come with a case when I bought it. I ordered this case, it came very quickly in perfect condition. It fits the tool just right and has room for bits and a center punch and hammer.
Milwaukee builds tools right!
Excellent steel tool case by Milwaukee

Milwaukee 48-55-0711 Steel Carrying Case
This case is 13.5" wide, 9.5" deep, and 6" high.
The tray is 12 3/4" wide, 8 3/4" deep, and 1.5" high. The tray's ends are bent downward into half-circles which rest on the top edge of the case sides to support the tray. This approach eliminates the need for separate tray supports in the case itself; a good idea as they would be in the way when the tray isn't used.
The top on my case closed off to one side just a bit. By twisting the open top counter-clockwise, I "bent" the metal so that it now closes uniformly.
There is a "saddle" spot-welded to the bottom of the case, to hold a drill in place. (See Customer Images.) Since I wanted a small tool box with a tray, but not a drill case, that saddle is in the way. I might drill out the 3 spot-welds and just remove it. (The nearly identical Milwaukee 48-55-0885 Carrying Case has no tool cradle welded into the case; but it doesn't include a tray.)
The case is well made, sturdy, and attractive. It's 100% steel, with a steel latch. The red paint is nicely done. All of this case can be used for storage -- for a specific tool and accessories, or, as a stand-alone tool box.
excellent old-school tool case

This case is a throwback to the sturdy power tool cases of the old days. It is perfect fit for milwaukee drills and has a convenient storage tray.

Good, solid drill box

I knew what the product was before I ordered it, just a good solid steel box for my Milwaukee drill.
best darned drill box I ever did own

what more can I say? If you're in the market for a high-end drill box, then this baby is your ticket. The features are too many to list here. I'll just say that this box has not disappointed me one iota. I was a little nervous at the time of ordering because of the countless sub-par boxes out there, but my anxiety disappated once I held this one in my hand. Pure quality. I even dropped it intentionally off of a three story building, and guess what? Not even a scratch. I highly recommend this drill box.
Nice box, esp. for Amazon's price (w/ free shipping)

Nice metal drill box/case. Has a padded saddle which cradles the drill, keeping it from sliding around inside. Nicely made for the price. Amazon shipping was good -- box in box -- arrived undamaged. Nice size for holding drill and acc. Not too big. 1/2" 0302-20 fits perfect ...
Terrific bargain

If you believe in protecting your tools, and at the prices tools go for why wouldn't you?, this Milwaukee Steel Carrying Case is is ideal. It's sturdy, roomy, and conveniently laid out. The locking mechanism is reliable, unlike other cases. If you are a professional or just handy around the house, this box is a necessity, not a luxury. And at Amazon's prices--a bargain.
