None better!!!!

This speed square just keeps getting better and better. You can't get any better. The 12" model is great as well.
My most widely used tool!

I use this tool the most, only followed by my measuring tape and my cordless drill. If you include a pencil as a tool, then this barely slips to #2!
I had a plastic one, and it broke. Replaced it with this one, and it's fantastic. I use it whenever I cut any 2-by, and the only complaint that I have is that it's a little short for 2x12 boards. I use the 12" Speed Square for that!
The classic.

Be the first on your block to figure out the rafter computations as described in the handy pocket book. Then use the markings and scales on your Swanson speed square to figure your rafter lengths and roof pitches. Amaze your freinds, dazzle your co-workers.
Or just throw the book on the shelf and use this baby to mark perfect right angles on your dimensional lumber before you cut.
Either way, you definitly get your 8 bucks worth.
Very Handy Tool

My husband and I are finishing our guest bedroom in our log home and have found this tool to be very useful. We are currently putting tongue and groove paneling on the walls and ceiling and it has helped with many of the phases of this process.
Best square out there

Well it is a speed square that does what it is suppose to do!
Why don't you already own it?

I used a framing square for years before I bought a speed square. What an idiot! In the hands of anyone except a genuine expert (when was the last time you saw someone use the 100ths table or work out complex compound cuts on a framer?), the speed square will do as much and do it faster. It's actually superior for 90 degree cross-cuts and, for general framing use, just as good for angle cuts. It will also keep its accuracy forever, unlike a framing square. The aluminum models are the only ones to buy - I can't imagine why ANYONE would buy a plastic speed square for the piddly difference in price. I have a 7" and a 12" and use them both all the time.
Definition of a square.
2007-10-03
In response to the erroneous definition by R. Harper. A square is a device used to construct a right triangle. (woodworker's). Therefore, a square has nothing to do with its shape. The Swanson Tool is one of the most used tools in any construction project, including my shop.

This tool is awesome, but I must say-- IT IS NOT A SQUARE!
It is so obviously a triangle.

All hail the Speed Square, the King of Tools. I have no idea how anyone was able to build anything without these. Get the Swanson best $8 you will ever spend. If these things cost $45 they would still be worth it.
