Another interesting LEGO game. Good for children... 2006-11-10
Although the idea behind the LEGO Rock Raiders game was solid enough, the actual programming left a lot to be desired. (Okay, so I'm picky when it comes to programming)
I never played the game, but watched my little brother play. Here is what I gather:
Game has a top/angle or 1st person view option.
Game is built along a Command and Conquer/Civilization game line only 80% without violence. You have to mine "energy crystals" out of rock caves (thus the name) to get your mothership back on its journey-- wherever that was. You are attacked on occasion by ice, rock or lava monsters which the men you control in the game can fight (10% violence) and defeat. Not so bad. Then there are the "slimy slugs" which can't be destroyed, only pushed around. Rather frusterating.
Lots of levels.
Even though it is an older game it requires a lot of computer power to run half-way decent.
Nice game for kids 8 and above.
