Couldn't run it on my Macintosh 2007-02-08
I have an iMac with OS X, version 10.4.8, and apparently this software will not run on such a recent operating system. I haven't been able to play this game, so the rating is not applicable.

A Masterpiece 2006-10-17
As almost all LucasArts titles, this one is top. Perfect music, wonderful graphics (although 320x200) , overwhelming colors, and stunning voices. Recommended for the new and the old player.

ONE OF THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! 2005-12-25
The dig is great , it was made by lucasart and that is enough for me , the story is very deep , and full of detais, has multiple endings ( i love that) and that's it .

Another LucasArt masterpiece 2004-03-18
When I first saw the front cover of the box, I wasn't very interested at all because the cover looks so unattractive. But as a Lucasart adventure game loyal fan, I decided to buy it.
The graphic was okay but the puzzles were very hard dude! But I enjoyed it every moment even though my brain was about to explode hehehe....
I finished the game fair and square (no cheat). If you like puzzle-adventure type of game, then this is the right game for you.

excellent adventure game 2003-10-24
This is an excellent adventure game. The story for the game is awesome, the game boasts of writing credits from Steven Spielberg. You play the commander of space shuttle send on a mission to divert an asteroid on a collision course with the earth. But this is no regular asteroid, play the game to figure out what it really is.

Even though the game is old and the graphics are outdated, the suspension of disbelief in the story more than make up for the graphics. Even though, the animation is great for the games of that era. The puzzles are considerable harder than most other adventure games I have played. If you can go through all the puzzles without even getting a hint once then either you are a genius or have become so frustrated that you have actually tried every possible option.

Overall it is a great game, even in this age! And it does work on XP.

Old but brilliant 2003-08-31

Old but Good 2003-07-22
Other reviews have focused on the game dynamics, I want to foucs on the aesthetics of the game. This is a classic game, and as such it does not exactly compare well with state of the art games (in terms of graphics, anyway). However, the storyline is wonderful, and the scenery is very well drawn. What really stands out in my mind after all these years is the music. The music is a mix of classical, new age, and space. For instance, I'm pretty certian I heard Einojuhani Rautavaara's Cantus Arcticus in here.

It is a game that takes patience to get through; lot's of thought involved. So if you want a relaxing yet challenging game, with a great ending, then this is a game for you. If you are looking for fast action then look elsewhere.

extremely addicting 2003-02-09
This game is an exciting game with wonderful situations that engage the player. It is difficult to stop playing this game at any given point. The only set back is that it is extremely challenging, but for some people (like me!) that is not a discouraging factor. It is a fantastic game to teach children patience with each other, as when I first played it I played with a group of my friends at age 10. We did not manage to finish it together but we had an enjoyable time and found ourselves looking forward to having the time to playing it. The game helped us to develop our logical and problem solving devices. I strongly recommend this computer game!

Loved the Book 2002-10-22
I read the book The Dig, did you know there even was a book, and I personally LOVED the book. It was really weird, though, with all those "Ressurection" Crystals, and the addicted scientist. If the game is anywhere near as good as the book, it is a must have.

Very Cool 2002-10-17
What's these comments I hear about this not being cenamaticly paced?? come on, this is a puzzle game. I liked this because of the fact that you can't mess up & you can't die. Almost like myst in this regard, execept there you can mess up, but then the game stops. But, the puzzles aren't brain wrenching like myst. You just try different things until it works. Can't figure it out? let someone else play with it for a while. (that's how I figured out how to turn the power on.) I thought this had rather good voice acting as well. Very sci-fi, a little bit errie, and great graphics (at least at the time). I wouldn't know where it sits now on graphics since I played it when it came out.
