Where in the U.S.A. Is Carmen Sandiego? 2002-12-10
This is an excellent game for children to improve their geography skills. They will learn about cities and states of the United States.

great game for all ages 2002-12-02
This is a fun and educational game for everyone.

I recommend this game for kids and adults alike. I am 14 years old, and I play it with my 47 year old mom and 21 year old brother. I've been playing this game for years.

You learn interesting things about the states while trying to catch a crook without your battery going dead. When you catch certain crooks, you can get messages about Carmen for the last capture which of course is Carmen Sandiego herself.

VERY FUN 2000-05-07
Now I want you to understand me. THIS IS A GREAT PROGRAM AT AGOOD PRICE. And teaches geography at the same time. This ends myreview.

P.S. This program is great.

Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego is Great for Kids! 2000-04-24
I just recently bought this game for my seven-year-old soon to be eight-year-old son and he loved it! He didn't want to stop playing. I must admit though, that I had to sit and play it with him. At 7 or 8 years old a child's knowledge of cities and states isn't quite enough for this game. But, what was good about that is that child and parent can play together. Once you've got the game figured out and get your super sleuth hats on - it is lots of fun. This game promotes problem solving, searching for details, development of geographical and historical knowledge, reading skills and more! Kids will enjoy the graphics and the mysteries.

Capturing Carmen in the 50 States 1999-11-29
Get your detective equipment ready, Gumshoe! This game will take you on adventures throughout the 50 states as a member of the Acme Detective Agency. You'll get your assignments from a friendly Chief and off you'll go to your assigned state where you'll pick up clues to both the identity of Carmen's current accomplice and to the next state the thief ran to. Clues are obtained by talking to people walking around and looking for "evidence" the thief left lying around. Once you've completed the profile of the thief, you get a warrant and make the arrest. Each adventure includes visits to about five states. After about three adventures, you get promoted to "investigator." Promotions come regularly until you reach the ultimate: Super Sleuth! Then, on your fortieth adventure, you capture Carmen herself. But watch out! The state clues get harder as your rank increases. Can't guess the clues? There's lots of opportunity for learning about the states in the "explore mode" complete with tour guides, reading material, maps, state flags, music, true-false games, even video. I found this to be a very valuable teaching tool. My six-year-old twins learned the names and locations of all 50 states within about a week, although they really aren't able to guess the state clues yet. This would be a great game for about fourth grade and up. A number of adults would also probably discover facts they never knew. This product does what the best educational CD Roms do: combines learning with a strong fun factor. Highly recommended!

More storylines needed 2008-07-03
I love the Carmen games, but this one got boring after I'd beaten it once because it's got only one storyline. Trying to click on people and items was tedious and it made me long for the classic text-based version. I would have given it two stars, but it gets three because of Lynne Thigpen, Carmen Sandiego's between-cases cameos, the awesome state-a-base and the seven ACME Good Guides. Kids and adults will learn a lot from this game...more info here than in any previous Carmen USA games.

If you're having trouble filling out a warrant, like the previous reviewer was, request that a Good Guide to show around any state. After he/she gives you the tour or a portion of it, he or she will be able to help you fill out the warrant via the videophone, with one catch. If you request a tour of Florida, Ivan Idea(the ACME Florida Good Guide) won't be able to help you verify your warrant until you leave Florida. The game's manual doesn't mention this.

When it comes to catching Carmen, look at the faxed message that you'll have collected over solving the cases. All the clues are there as to what Carmen's disguise is if you read through it carefully...although I failed to nab her on my first attempt. The previous reviewer's description was quite accurate, missing only a few minor details. You'll get a shot to catch her right after you're a Super Sleuth. If you misidentify her, she busts three of her VILE henchmen from jail and you'll have to wait two or three more cases to arrest her.

Not only do clues get harder as each level increases, the tourists around the crook look more and more similar as the game progress. You're going to guess wrong a few times. It's hard to tell a tall suspect from a medium..or a medium from a short. Just size up the suspects. It's easy to screw up ambigous idea clues for height and weight also.

A true computer classic! 2007-05-06
I could play this game when I was five years old, and I still play it now! You go from state to state talking to witnesses and gathering information about the next state Carmen went. As you go along, you learn things about each state. This game is fun, and challenging, but not too challenging. I don't know why the guy that wrote the bad review couldn't beat it? I could beat the first few levels when I was five??

Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego 2006-08-07
My son has played it for several hours since it arrived yesterday. He is learning about US geography and improving his vocabulary. He has asked me lots of questions, so it is also something that can be done interactively between parents and kids. Overall, a great product.

I HATE THIS GAME!!!! 2006-01-08
THIS GAME IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!! You gather clues as to who did the crime, and you make an educated guess. My brother and I have NEVER "arrested" the right person, and they match up to every single clue!!! We even got my dad to help us and he couldn't do it either!! DON'T BUY THIS GAME, IT'S HARD!!!

This is a cool game. 2003-04-17
This is a cool game. I had a tough time trying to beat it but I finally figured out how to catch Carmen Sandiago in the game. Here's how you catch her. Issue the warrant for the way she usually looks: Female, brown hair, tall, thin and wearing a hat. In Washington D.C click on the woman who is wearing an apron and then click "Stop theif! Your're under arrest!" If you issued the warant like I said you will beat the game and catch Carmen.
