Great product, poor customer service

This product arrived missing the vice screws. I placed multiple calls to Black & Decker customer service to get this resolved. They first stated that items sold through Amazon.com were not guaranteed. They backed down on that stance quickly. Then they could not find any documentation for this product in their database, so they guessed and sent me the wrong parts. Repeat phone calls ensued, each time with the argument that products sold through Amazon are not guaranteed. They finally gave up and sent me to a local service center. That also took multiple calls - they didn't even answer the phone the first time. However, they did figure out the right parts and got them to me (after wanting me to pay for them, which I refused).
The product itself is great. I'm working on a fairly large project that has taken many weekends, and the Workmate has been an extremely useful tool that has saved me many hours. I highly recommend the product - just cross your fingers and hope that it arrives with all parts.

A great bargain on a great piece of equipment

This Workmate workbench is well-built, solid as a rock and has a host of applications. It was easy to assemble and has worked flawlessly. The vise function, the stability of the fold-out legs and the sturdy construction have made this a pleasure to use. Buy one and enjoy its many uses!

Good, basic workbench

The workbench arrived in good shape (even if the shipping box was knocked around) and was fairly simple to assemble. Used exclusively so far for cutting lumber, it has performed well. Clamps uneven pieces of wood nicely.

not well made

this is a wanna be workmate. I own one I purchased 25 years ago, it is still functional and much better made than the new model. But of course the old model was made in this country, not china !!

Overall good, a couple of minor issues

This product works great a medium duty, portable workspace. The fold-out "mini legs" are nice for adjusting height based on use. However, the clamping ability is only so so. Further the clamp cracks are rather fragile and easily broken when the unit is folded up.

They don't make 'em like they used to....

Wrong thing ordered -- but service great

I intended to order 2 top of the line Workmates to go with the one I already have. However, it was late at night and I suppose "the wrong button was hit." So, I am stuck with two 225's.

If you have to be stuck with something, these are not bad items to go with the heavier duty one. Let the heavy duty do the hard work. The 225 will do the lighter items. Fortunately, the lighter ones comprise most work around the house, and two of them working together can fill 90% of these needs.

The WM225 will be adequate for 95+ % of my jobs. If you have a lot of heavy clamping or forceful prying in mind, you may want to consider the heavier duty model. One side note : I used the "super-saver" shipping and was very happy with the results. I would guess that it took approx. 2 - 3 additional days to receive the product. So you just need to order a little earlier if you must have it on a certain date.

I am really disappointed with this order. If I could give it "no stars", I would.

The picture shown appears to be (to me anyway) a Black and Decker Workmate "floor model" but the package I received was for the "table top model." Yes, the description says "portable" but to me even the floor model is portable. I would put "table top model" in the description. My bad for assuming without investigating further. But I do consider this to be somewhat misleading.

I got such a good deal on it because of signing up for the Amazon credit card that I'm really hesitant to send it back so I will keep it. But....It will remain in the box until I figure out if I can give it as a gift to someone. I really have no use for the table top model, I wanted the floor model.
