I'm impressed...
2008-05-14
I've been looking for an easier way to clip my 3 dogs nails and I think I finally found it...it took a few minutes to figure out how to attach everything. They shyed away but in the end my Rottie let me go ahead and do her back nails on one paw and a couple of her nails on the front ones (in which she got treats). The other two are now curious and it may take a few trys but I'm pretty impressed with it so far. It made things a lot easier and her nails looks great! I'M CONVINCED!!
Dog-gone nail solution

I bought this tool specifically to cut my doggie's toenails, as I just had hardwood installed and wanted to avoid scratches in the wood finish.
Well, call this tool my total solution! Not to imply that doggie is totally happy, but the process is so quick and painless that I'm done in 10 minutes or less, and he's much less traumatized.
If you have a doggie with black toenails like I do, you need this tool, because cutting off the nails has the added risk of bringing blood from getting in the quick. You can sand down the nails without getting in the quick and it's quick and painless.
I'm sure I'll find other things this tool is good for, but right now I'm in awe of how much this single purchase has made me and my dog so much happier!
Battery lasts good, tool has nice weight, pretty easy to figure out how to use it, even for an old lady like me.
Love it!

We use the minimite in our grooming shop for filing dogs nails. It's easy to use & light weight. The dogs are more relaxed once they get used to it as well.
Great for Dog Nails

This model works great on keeping my 2 Samoyeds nails trimmed. Both dogs now enjoy having their nails done and had no problem with the Dremel Minimite from day one. I'm not sure how the pet model works, but this one is less expensive and works great. I found it's best to trim on the lo speed and only for a few seconds on each nail, otherwise it gets too hot. The price is great, and even with using the free shipping I had it in my mailbox 3 days after ordering.
This is definately better than clipping their nails! As a suggestion, if your dog has hairy feet like mine, try using some old nylons and just poking their nail through the nylon when you trim. This should prevent any hair getting caught in the Dremel.

This works MUCH better than the Dremel made for pets. I bought that one first and had to return it because it was completely ineffective and didn't work properly. This one has been great and the dogs are surprisingly calm while I use it.

I like it but I have not used it yet. It is for my cat's claws.
fabulous for dog grooming

Best 30 dollars i've spent in a while. I purchased this to use while grooming my 2 dogs. They hate the nail clippers, and I am prone to accidentally cutting too much nail off and making them bleed.
It worked fabulously for the purpose that I purchased it. I attached the coarse sanding band, and got right to work. Both dogs tolerated it well. Compared to the battle that usually ensues when I attempt to clip their nails, it was almost a pleasure. It made quick painless work of their nails. When I was done, I just swept up a big pile of toenail powder.
Some Comments:
Time to file nails: 10 minutes / dog ( I bet I'll get faster too )
Battery Life: it did both dogs, but wouldn't have done a third
Sound: didn't seem to scare the dogs
Durability: great considering price. When it breaks i'll just buy a new one
Accessories: fine and coarse sanding, ceramic cutting blade, felt buffer
Power: LOW seemed to be fine for dogs.
The only other suggestion I have is to pick the sander up off the nail every other second or so, because it can build up quite a bit of friction heat, which might cause pain.
Very pleased

Item arrived promptly and was already charged! Very easy to use. I bought it to file my dog's nails and it works really well. Took a while for the dog to get accustomed to the feeling, but by the time I got to her third nail, she was fine with it.
Mini Dremel

Believe it or not, I use this tool to keep the heels of my feet smooth ! It works better & faster than any foot/heal cream, vaseline, pumice stone or hot wax. I just lightly sand them every couple of days & apply a little lotion.
I had previously purchased a battery operated "Heel Sander" that didn't last long before the motor gave out. It was my husbands idea to get the re-chargeable Mini Dremel ! This is actually the second one I have gotten. The first one lasted about 5 years before it would no longer hold a charge. great value for the money !
