classic musical

This is a classic musical western. It's a bit hokey but if you like Clint Eastwood, westerns or musicals you can get it all here! Good story line too.

the best musical ever

I am not going to rehash all the things other have mentioned as to performances of actors and story line. I simply find this my favorite musical. While Eastwood's singing was not polished it was perfect for the story. This is one DVD that I"ll never get tired of watching.

One of the most underrated movies ever!

This movie is funny and enjoyable. I never cease to laugh and I have watched it at least a dozen times. The critics hated the actors using their own voices but I thought it was charming and much more in line with the earthiness of the movie rather than inserting a "polished" voice in a rough and tumble atmosphere. A VERY funny movie with a message that doesn't hit you over the head and lots of wonderful songs!

Lee Marvin is doing what??

Let's get this straight right from the beginning: Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin cannot sing a lick!
That being said, this is another fun musical / comedy from the 60's that is a fun watch. A little too long, and drags around the 2 hour mark, but finishes well. I happen to enjoy 60's musicals, so even the Lee / Eastwood songs were bearable, as the rest of the movie carried me through. Highly recommended to those whom appreciate this genre.

Better than expected

Wow - this movie is wonderful on DVD and in Widescreen to boot. Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood and the rest of the cast are funny and downright entertaining. I can't wait to watch it again.

Seller not not up front with return policy at time of sale

The seller did not disclose Region 2 as india/africa location for viewing. Seller did know the item was being shipped to California. In sales there is no reference to regions locations to view product purchased. Had I known that there were specific regions for videos or a graph showing the regions I may not have spent $30.00 plus dollars for a movie I can not view. When I asked to return product, I was notified that if it were returned unopened I could return it. How would I know that if on their return policy at the time of sale, they had not mentioned that. Also how would I know I could not view it if I had not opened it to find out?

This is a great movie musical. Lee Marvin couldn't sing, but everyone loves, 'Wonderin' Star'. Clint Eastwood had quite a nice voice. The story line was hilarious. The acting superb and the dialog genius between the two men, Marvin and Eastwood. The young Quaker boy adds a lot of fun to the movie. This musical and 'Fiddler on the Roof' are my two favorite movie musicals.
