astrology software
2001-10-31
The software has a glitch. If you were born in the evening, it comes up time of birth A.M., no matter what you do. Also, it doesn't come with any instructions.
Not a UserFriendly Product
2001-08-13
This product is not user friendly. In many cases the exact longitude and latitude of the city must be entered. If you were born at 12 a.m. or 12 p.m.; the program frequently will set your chart ahead or behind 12 hours. To give an example, I was born shortly after midnight and quite close to the Pacific Time Zone (but, still in the Mountain Time Zone). My chart had me born after high noon and the moon in the next sign. I was able to somewhat remedy this by setting the birth time by one hour using daylight savings time. The Ascendant is still off by at least 8 degrees. A chart wheel is not with this program. The interpretations are "cookbook"(Sun Conjunct Moon in Aquarius will be different than Sun Conjunct Moon in Scorpio, yet the printout interpretation will be the same). Planet /House interpretations are only given for planets in the First House. However, yet again, Saturn in Capricorn in the First House will be interpreted exactly like Saturn in Gemini in the First House. I could not in good conscience charge a paying client for printouts because of the weaknesses of this package. I bought this software package at a bricks and mortar store at a "fire sale" price($...). This was still too much for the product. Are there any good points? The chart can be set to three different House Systems (Placidus, Koch, and Equal House). Aspect Orbs can be set to your liking(0.0-9.9 Degrees). If this is the best mass market astrological software package available; wait a few years for a more acceptable package.
Disappointed Hobbyist
2001-01-03
I like to give perfunctory astrology charts to the newborns and their families in my life in a little bound booklet with a chart and some text showing an interpretation of the natal chart. This program cannot produce a wheel! What a waste. Furthermore, it also does not perform compatibility charts, which are fun, even if they are wrong. . . . .
No daily transits
2000-09-05
If you are looking for an ephemeris for daily transits, you will not find it here. The daily scope on the disc that I have doesn't properly match day and date, for instance, Tuesday September 4, 2000 (actual date was Monday, September 4, 2000).
WARNING ! NO Stars !
2000-06-19
Myself being pretty involved in Astrology (hobbywise, NOT professional! ) I was looking for an easily understandable program for a friend of mine so that she would be able to lern the basics of Astrology in a mothertongue other than english. I did not expect this program to be very professional to begin with (even though it praises itself "great for PRO and amateur") but when I tested it I found myself very upset with not only the looks (which do not really matter if the progam is good) but most of all with the contents itself. To name just a few: no instruction booklet or CD inlet but advertisement for free CDs after online registration. Absolut inacurracy when it comes to natal and daily planet and house charts. "Premanufactured"; readings of character which of course can only be false because of the natal chart being wrong in the first place. A list of birthcharts from celebrities, most of them dead or "outdated"; which only adds to the question of who wants to know that to begin with ? A little game to compare the own natal chart with friends and again, celebrities... I could go on and on, it would get worse and worse... Do yourself and serious astrologers a favor and keep your hands off this program, there are so many others out there, which I confess, are hard to understand at first but worth studying if you are really interested in finding out more about Astrology might affect you. This is the perfect example of why Astrology, Esoteric and other fields are still regarded as dubios to most people !
Best "Little" Program on the Market
2004-03-13
I really love my Astrology Source program and find I use it more often than my expensive SolarFire software. For a daily check of transit aspects, and the swift movement of inner planets through houses, the Astrology Source can't be beat. I find that my high end software can give "too much information" to use everyday.
The interpretations are lacking in depth, and a good book (Planets in Transit/Robert Hand) is indispensable for adequate comprehension of important events; but this is the program where you will notice these events, as its ease of use means it is likely it will get used!
Yes, it needs the patch offered at the M-2K website to work with birth times after noon. Just click on the downloaded patch & it's fixed. (it may say "target not found" but I've found it works). Without the patch, PM birth times will mysteriously switch to AM, but this little program is certainly worth its modest price.
NOT MAC OS
2003-12-27
I haven't heard back from either the seller of this CD nor the actual software developer, but, I just received the CD in the mail today and I'm angry that it's advertised as MAC OS compatible..... it is NOT! I can't open any of the files and there's no "install" file. Just a lot of files that my MAC G4 on OS 9.2 can't open. What a hoax!
I can tell you where to get good software

Astrology Source rocks
2002-05-08
They've fixed the AM/PM bug a couple of other reviewers noticed, so the new version works great. Lots of options including Placidus, Koch, or Equal House systems, set your own orb size, natal horoscopes, daily horoscopes, etc. Plus it's very simple to use.
Very accurate and well written horoscopes.
astrology for entertainment
2002-03-31
For a fun and entertaining look at astrology,I found this CD ROM adequate. It contains information on celebrities including, Harrison Ford, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, Al Gore, and Albert Einstein, just to name a few. I enjoyed comparing their charts and was not surprised to find out Madonna is a Leo.
I must agree with a previous review. There was inaccurate information in my chart and the evening birth times often come up as AM. A book of instructions and perhaps a beginner's manual would be very helpful for anyone with a more than an entertainment interest in charting the stars.
