Love it!

This product does the job beautifully. I have a large naturalized garden, and there's always have lots of overgrowth to keep in check or invasive saplings to remove. I'm so glad I found this tool, because now I can do most of the trimming myself instead of having to worry whether or not some guy I've hired will do it gently and selectively. It allows you to be very precise in what you trim, and is lightweight enough to handle easily. I only wish it would cut thicker branches, though now that I have the tool, hopefully I can keep things from getting out of hand.
One caveat - by rotating the cutting head you're able to nip off invasive saplings at ground level, but this takes practice. If there's a great deal of ground cover, it's hard to see where to cut, and in the end you have to bend over and pick up the material anyway if you want the area neat and tidy. I'm not so sure it's not just as easy to bend over with a hand pruner and do both steps at once. Still, it likely a handy feature and I'll have to spend more time perfecting it.
I highly recommend this pruner. Thank you, Fiskars!
The BEST product in a long time!

I had been dreaming of a product such as this to clip small saplings of trees and other woody type sprouts. The head of the pruner can be rotated and can be operated without bending. An excellent product that simplifies pruning and clipping.
Fiskar 62-Inch Pruning Stik #9234

This is my 7th purchase of this pruning. I purchased this one because my 7 year fiskar broke. Then I found it has an unlimited warranty, and fiskar sent me the spring to repair it. Now I own 2. The other purchases were for gifts. The ease of handling is so easy. I do not have to exert great muscle power to do my trimmings. The string is so simple to use. I would not have even purchased it, if I had not seen it demonstrated. My husband, my father, my sister, my nephew, my lawnmower repairman, my son and I love it.
I have owned one for years

I have owned one of these for years and it stays sharp with virtually no maintainence. I use it a lot in the summer.
It can cut up to about 1 inch hard wood as long as it is green.
I could sure use one that is perhaps 8 ft long.

Fiskars 62" Pruner

This product is excellant in all respects. It is well made, sharp, and cuts easily through branches up to 1.5 inches. But it is limited to branches within its 5 foot reach. It is therefore desirable to also have Fiskars telescoping pruner, which is the best that I have ever used.

The Fiskars pruning stik is a lightweight, multipurpose pruning tool with the ability to trim tree branches up to 12-feet tall without needing a ladder. The pruning stik features Fiskars' PowerStroke sliding-grip cutting action that lets you prune by simply sliding the plastic grip (or pulling the orange ball end), which engages a chain and spring that snaps the blades closed. In addition, the cutting head rotates 240 degrees to give the user the best pruning angle. The replaceable Xylan-coated blade is ultra-hardened to stay sharp all-season long, and it offers a cutting capacity of 1-1/4 inches. Weighing less than 2 pounds, the aluminum handles are durable and light, and their length allows you to reach high branches, and remove growth at ground level while standing. The pruning tool comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
Gardening must-have

This tool is absolutely essential for yard work. It handles pruning like a pro and is easy to use. I have arthritis so my hands are not particulary agile or strong. With this tool, they don't need to be. I love it!
Best pole pruner available

This is my second having destroyed the first through overzealous use cutting through wider than recommended branches. I'm the first to admit I gave my first pruner a really hard work out. I used it to clear blackberry on a steep hillside. Without it would have been one of those jobs you walk away from. With it I tackled the canes from the base and literally whacked the cut canes out of my way.
Yes, tools do last a whole lot longer if you're nice to them. However it wasn't the blackberry that killed it. It was metal fatigue on the cutting head. That part is easily enough replaced but before I knew that I recycled it.
Overall it's safer to use this tool to avoid scratches, gouges and scrapes than to use shorter handled loppers. It has great use of leverage so you really can cut through tough branches with relative ease.
I strongly recommend this pruner and the larger Fiskars. I have both and have used them to very good effect on my 5 acres.
Fiskars 62-Inch Pruning Stik #9234

It finally got nice enought outside for me to get to use the Fiskars 62-Inch Pruning Stik. They are GREAT, I didn't have to pull out the ladder, I just stood there and pruned what need to be done. They let you adjust the head so you can reach up there and cut what ever branch you need to prune. They are light weight so when you are holding them up over your head, the don't knock you off balance. or make your arms hurt. I know I'll be using them alot. Thank you . Deb D in Connecticut
Not for bushes
2008-04-08
I have a large piece of property in Arizona that requires the removal of bushes from time to time and I figured this looked like the perfect tool to cut the main trunk/branches of a dessert bush; NOT!!!!!
It was worth a try, but it is clumsy and will not cut through most of the fibrous shoots of a typical desert bush. I am back to the pick and spade.
I have many tools for tree limbs that do a much better job than this.
I'll give it to my brother. :>)
