I'd improve on the concept......

These shears are okay for a person who has only light trimming to do. As others have stated it doesn't do well in thick grass. The swivel head on mine is rather loose and doesn't click into it's angle strongly enough to hold at that angle.

In my opinion these shears could be greatly improved is they (a) added wheels on them and (b) they could be adjusted to a 45 degree angle, where the handle meets the clippers, as the angle they have it set at causes one to have to hold the bar so far out in front of you that it makes it ungainly to handle. On the plus side they are quiet, quite light for their size, and the blades are very sharp.

I'm looking into purchasing an American Gardner cordless trimmer to pair up with the extra American Gardner extension handle which does, indeed, have a set of wheels on it.

I used a similar grass shear years ago when I was renting this apartment in a home. I loved it then and was sad to have to leave it behind. I ordered the Fiskars on Monday and it arrived on Tuesday. I couldn't believe how quickly! I had to go to an appointment, but not before I opened the box and took Fisky out. Well, it was love at first sight and I immediately had to use it. I went into difficult to reach places I was unable to get to this past weekend - grass and weeds - gone! I can't wait until this weekend when I can use it for a couple of hours. It is so light and easy to use with its grip handle. I have arthritis and osteo and have no problem having only used it for 1/2 hour, but I can tell it is not uncomfortable or awkward to use. The blades are razor shop even though my husband watered the garden an hour before I arrived home and it did not bend the grass as some reviews said. I am completely happy with the product and if the blades go dull after many uses - heck I will just sharpen them.

Less than expected

With my type of grass, this pair of shears wasn't very effective. The grass slipped between the blades and had to be operated several time to do the job. Sorry I purchased them.

Performance drop After 1st use

Pros: Quiet, great idea. Cons: the blades quickly become dull & the handle control becomes difficult to squeeze. I did not expect to have to search for new shears after 2.5 mths. I only use them 2x's a mth and perform very light trimming on about 8ft X 10ft perimeter. It is not worth the price. At this rate, I wouldn't pay more than $5 or would have invested in a diff. product. I am certainly dissapointed.

Fiskars Long Handled Swivel Grass Shears #9210 I really thought this purchase would do the trick - not so! These grass shears are awkward to use and frustrating as can be. Perhaps if there were wheels/rollers on the bottom of the shaft so the shears could be better balanced and glide smoothly over the lawn surface or the driveway - whichever! Trying to trim along a driveway or walk way with these shears is next to impossible - forget it! I do not recommend.

This product works well and you don't have to bend over to do your trimming. It also spares your clothes and shoes from getting grass all over unlike the weed whackers. A Great GREEN product. No gas or string winding necessary.

The only problem is that you cannot acurately balance the handle while cutting at the same time. My grandfather had shears with wheels. The wheels kept the blade at a even height and it made it easier to go for long stretches. Why did we loose the wheels? PUT THE WHEELS BACK ON and this item will be absolutely perfect.

I remember as a kid, kneeling on the grass to use the hand shears to trim around the tree trunks and house foundation. These are so much easier on my back! They're quiet, easy to use, and light. They don't cut through thick items like twigs, but trimming the grass around the edge of the house, under bushes/roses and around trees is a breeze. No extension cords, no ripcord, no loud motor, just snip-snip-snip! I do wish the blades were a tad longer, but they're quite good as they are now. Eco-friendly and retro-cool!

Product seems to be well built. Great for long reaches into bushes to snip climbing vines as well as cutting flower seed heads without stooping.

the Fiskars cutter did what it was supposed to. I used them on a sloping bank where I had planted flowers and placed rock. I needed something to trim around those items and my Fiskars did the job
