I love this item!

Last year I was given one of these timers as a gift. I just bought four more, one for every outdoor faucet. For a person who multi-tasks and who sometimes "forgets" that the water is running, these timers are wonderful! I live in Southern California, and the drought has resulted in my capturing shower water and bailing bath water and dishwater to help ease my use in the yard. I see the Gardena timer as another in my arsenal to save water!
Best of breed

There is no better timer - I've tried them all. They are so rugged they stand up to the acidic enviroment at the chemical plant where I work. I have standardized on this timer for all the rinse tanks. (and also my garden) There are $10 timers out there from big box hardware stores but they WILL fall apart before the season is over.
So far, so good

I've tried many other timers, which have failed after about 3 months of use. So far, after 1 month, this timer seems to work well.
Great water timer for a couple of years

I have bought these for years, but have only gotten 2-3 years use out of them. I use them for watering my veggies, flowers and bushes. We have horses and I use them all year round for the water troughs.I can walk away from them and depend on the timer to fill them. However,if there is any sort of freezing weather you must not let these remain on the hose bib and freeze up with water. They will be useless after-leaking and not working properly. Otherwise, I would recommend them.
Water timer

Great product. I have been using it a month. No batteries required. Just set the desired length of time you wish to run the hose or turn the timer the oposite way to keep continous flow. Works great!
Useless water timer

Do you need to water your lawn or garden but don't want to be bothered with running out to shut off the sprinkler system? This Gardena water timer may be just the solution you've been seeking. The small timer attaches directly to your outdoor spigot and operates similar to a conventional kitchen timer. Simply turn the dial face to the number of minutes you want your sprinkler running, and, when the time has elapsed, your system will be shut off automatically, saving you trouble and preventing the mess and damage caused by puddles. The unit also contains a quick connector that attaches to your hose and allows it to be easily and quickly joined to the timer without a lot of twisting.
Excellent water sav er

Replacing a 8 year old timer that died. Have 4 of these in the yard.
A must buy for everyone that has timers on their flowers and roses.
Good but won't last forever.

I bought the timer 3 years ago. It was the best time that I ever had. Easy to use and sustain the abuse by pulling and pushing against the connector. It started to leaking water from the turn knob when I tried to use this spring. Maybe the life span of the timer is only 3 years.
Severe decline in quality

I was an advid fan of all Gardena products, includling this water timer. I have used this water timer was years until now.
Sadly, I am very disappointed with the quality of the current product. I purchased six of them (not via Amazon) and they all failed within one season. Some failed within weeks. I took one apart and found that the internal timer used soft plastic for the timer bearings. The bearing 'wear out' quickly leaving the timer to not 'time' or the timer dial would fling back to the zero settings.
I would avoid this product.
Cool sprinkler timer

This is a very cool timer that you attach to your outdoor spigot. I use it to control the timing of watering potted plants on the patio. It works just like a analog timer used to turn on your lights at a set time. YOu turn the dial and it ticks off the minutes and turns off when the time has expired. Simple, elegant--no batteries, no electricity, no transformer needed--you just "set it and forget it".
