Editorial Review
D-Link's DFE-530TX Fast Ethernet adapter is a high-performance auto-sensing 10/100Mbps dual-speed adapter for the PCI bus. This adapter turns a desktop into a high-bandwidth graphic/multimedia workstation or a power server running at full-duplex speed. The adapter operates in the 32-bit Bus Master mode, delivering throughputs at multi-megabits per second with little stress on the host's CPU. Supporting PCI clock speeds independently of the network clock, it transfers data directly to/from the host's memory, by-passing the CPU to alleviate the host's workload. The adapter allows users to migrate from Ethernet to Fast Ethernet in easy steps. 10BASE-T users can upgrade to 100BASE-TX anytime without changing driver software or network cables.Network administrators can install optional boot ROMs on the adapters to implement network security. Diskless workstations equipped with these ROMs can remote boot from NetWare or Windows NT servers and access authorized data. The adapter's single connector connects to either 10BASE-T Ethernet or 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet completely without any need to set configuration. It detects the connected hub's or switch's capability and auto-negotiates to use the highest available speed.Full/half duplex operation is auto-detected in both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX modes. When connected to a switch in full duplex, the network speed can be increased to 200Mbps, making the adapter an ideal NIC for high-speed server deployment.

excellent product 2007-10-28
an excellent product at a very reasonable price. I set up lots of workstations on networks of various kinds and the DFE 530TX has always installed perfectly the first time.

This is very good adapter. I don't have any problem with it.

Works Great 2007-03-29
Replaced a card that was giving me trouble. This card working great with my high speed optic fiber internet access. Downloads are fast, as high as 5mbs and no problems with the card. d-link is a good reliable product.

not Linux compatible after all 2007-03-08
so they say they're linux compatible, but the driver is twitchy at best.

Mac users: D-Link's claims about compatibility are false. Look elsewhere 2006-07-14
I have a G4 tower Mac that did have a built in Ethernet. Unfortunately, a lightening strike took out the port and I was forced to get a PCI card to replace the port. The first card I bought was the D-Link DFE-530TX+. I was excited because the box clearly said that the card would work with Macs and that the "minimum requirement" was OS 10.2.

They lied. OS 10.2 is the _maximum_ for this card. For most people, it won't work with 10.3 and up. D-Link has no driver for 10.3 or higher, only 10.2. A google search shows that some people have been able to get the card to work with 10.3. I couldn't. I tried several different drivers (some users recommended a driver from Realtek) and none worked.

It's my guess (and totally a guess) that this card is really only for older Macs that are limited to 10.2. D-Link doesn't seem to have any intention of supporting modern Macs.

This is the second D-Link product I've used (the first was a cable modem) and I've been disappointed both times. I can't speak for Windows users, but this company doesn't deserve Mac business.

Don't Be Fooled By The Cheap Price 2006-03-30
Don't Be Fooled By The Cheap Price! This card is a breeze to install. First install the software, then install the card, turn your computer back on, and your ready for the internet or to connect to a network! I have installed at least five of these cards into computers over the past year, and have not gotten one call that they are not working! This is a great price point, and great product.

D-Link is D-bomb(good) 2006-02-28
Simple install and it does what it is suppose to with no troubles as yet. I would buy again.

Also, happy with Amazon for fast shipping. Hopefully the future will bring more competitve pricing across the broad categories.

Works great, no problems 2005-04-05
I purchased my D-Link NIC at Best Buy, but would highly recommend this to the Amazon buyer. Works like a champ. I purchased two more and they worked great as well. Windows XP had its own drivers, no need to install the drivers that are included. I used the card with Win 2000 and Win 98SE in the past and worked like a champ. I would recommend this card to anyone who needs one.
