Editorial Review
It sounds like the beginning of a story: "So, Slowhand and the King of the Blues were riding in a car ..." If this is a musical journey, it's the kind that rolls down long, empty stretches of country highway at 80 miles an hour, with the top down and the stereo blasting. Clapton and King may be more city than country, but this collection has the relaxed, laid-back feel that only comes from a pair of veterans doing what they do best. What they do here is cover 12 classic blues songs, many of them staples of King's repertoire, so the title of this album makes sense. Whether it's the rollicking rock & roll of the title track, or the acoustic shuffle of "Key to the Highway," or the sweet notes of "When My Heart Beats Like a Hammer," a real sense of pleasure comes through on this album, the kind of pleasure one gets from jamming late at night with a good friend. --Genevieve Williams

BB King and Eric Clapton - Riding With The King 2008-04-25
This disc is pure fun from start to finish. It's two old blues guys (yes, old, sorry guys!) singing and playing guitar. It's awesome, brilliant and above all it's a blast to listen to for any fan of the blues, BB or Clapton, or a good way to get someone hooked on the blues for the first time!

solid electric blues, sounds like.... a mix of B.B. King and Erc Clapton! 2008-03-10
Riding With The King is a CD that sounds exactly like what it is: A blending of BB King and Eric Clapton. Bringing these two guitar legends together makes for a good album, but there are no surprises or anythng unexpected. It's a solid blues-fest. I picked this up here on Amazon used (very cheap like a dollar) because I'm a big Clapton fan that respects but doesn't listen to a lot of BB King. So this is a cool CD for my collection, but not one I'll listen to every day.

Lots of phantastic guitar-playing and understandable lyrics. You'll be in good company with Erik Claton and B.B. King.Riding with the King

As amazing as you think it will be. Buy this, then buy copies for your family.

More grit 2007-10-28
This is somewhere between 3 & 4 stars for me, it has some great moments, but overall doesn't quite add up to the sum of its parts.

The good first:
There is some lovely blues on here and its all well played by Clapton and King with a supporting cast of top notch musicians. These includes Steve Gadd, Joe Sample, Nathan East, Jimmie Vaughan and Andy Fairweather Low. The best tracks are the two semi-acoustic tracks 'Key to the Highway' and 'Worried life Blues' and the romping 'Days Of Old'. This track in particular is reminisant of some B B Kings swinging earlier material. A great track.

The not so good:
For my taste, with exception of about five tracks, its a little over-produced. For what is a essentially a blues album its all just a little to clinical for me, and reading the credits for the tracks you will find that on 10 of the 12 Paul Waller is credited with 'Drum programming'. Now that I just don't understand. I have no doubt that Paul Waller is a talented man (you have to be to work in this company) but why do you need a 'drum programmer' (whatever that is) when you have Steve Gadd anyway?

So overall this is a good album, certainly worth getting, but there are better blues albums out there.

Good for chill'in not really groov'in 2008-07-08
Great compilation of relaxing blues toons. Unfortunately relaxing is all you'll get here. I would have enjoyed it a little more if it had included a couple of toons that had made me want to get up and move a little though.

Great music!!! 2008-07-02
I was totally excited and pleased with this purchase, I have always loved both these artists.

Not perfect, but pretty close 2008-06-19
Eric and B.B. are so good that it is easy to overlook this album's short comings. Most everything works well, making this a great collaboration between two musical giants.

BLUES CLUES ???? 2008-06-15
Where's the Blues? This stuff is garbage. I always heard talk of Claptons greatness but have never actually witnessed any. I love BB and have a few of his great live albums. This album is 2 guys waiting for the other to take charge and play some guitar, too bad it never happens. I think most of the reviews here are written by marketing shills thus making anything with even 4 stars really a much lower rating. Seems to be way too many 5 star reviews on most albums no matter how good they are. Even Yoko has 5 star albums LOL

The best of both artists 2008-05-17
This is a really easy, relaxing listen. Very enjoyable. The best of the best. Can't miss with this one.
