Good for the price

Not as full featured as Final Draft or Movie Magic, and the spell checker sucks. Still, it is good value for the price. If you are just experimenting with script writing, or writing one for a class, its the way to go. If you are planning on doing a lot of screen writing, I'd spend the extra money and get Final Draft.

Does the Job.

This is all that you need to write a screen play. Why buy something with a lot of bells and whistles, when all "They" want is good dialog, action, day/night, inside/outside sceen location. If you want a program that will think for you, this is not for you. If you want to write a screenplay without all of the B.S. get this one.

Don't buy unless you like sticking the disc into the drive

Sorry people...I have to say this...don't buy this item unless you love sticking a disc into your CD-ROM drive everytime you start this software. I decided to return the item. I learned about this fact through another software I also ordered. ALthough it seems to be a decent screenwriting piece of sofware, I don't like to stick in a disc into my CD-ROM to work on my piece.I read about this problem in a review through this software's Amazon Customer Review from April 12,2005.Final Draft 7 Professional Scriptwriting Win/Mac

This CD will help both amatuer and professional screenwriter type faster with less interruption from margin settings. The smooth two-key margin set blends into the rythym of typing for a easy transition of idea to paper. Charecter analysis helps break down the script for the actors understanding and mastering of their roles. A extremely good buty at $29 dollars.

Great for the price

If you are looking for a writing program for your own productions, this is it. I cant recommend this enough for beginners or those (like me) on a low budget. If you are use to Final Draft, you wont like the simplicity or the lack of options, but for only $30.00, it sure beats using Word.

This program is great. The process of writing a screenplay was sped up by the drop down devices employed by this software. It's really easy to use and upload. Yes, you have to leave the disc in your drive in order to use it, but who cares? If all you want is a script that will print onto plain white paper (spell check included), you've found what you need at a very low cost. I was tempted to pay over $100 for the other programs, but decided to stick with this one. All I wanted was a script, and that's what I got from this software. 5 stars!!!!

Not Worth the Time or Money

Hollywood Screenwriter is not worth the time nor the money; it is designed for the amateur who wants to get "something" on paper, not a professional who not only wants to get something on paper, but wants that something to be the best he/she can create...and then be able to have it work with other elements of filmmaking including Scheduling, Full Production Breakdown Reports, Industry Standard Revision Draft Colors, Rundown Sheets, Budgeting, and Storyboard Linking.

Of what use to the film industry is a program that limits how producers, directors, other writers and production members can use a script, such as that produced with Hollywood Screenwriter? It makes no sense to have to re-type a script using other software that is Industry Standard. Why not just buy a professional program and use it, from the beginning.

I recommend Movie Magic Screenwriter, which formats for--among other types--films, stage plays, telvision producutions, multi-media productions and animations...and also meets Industry Standards for working with various elements of productions. It also imports and converts scripts written in Word, WordPerfect and other formats; so there is no need to retype a script.

A writer who wants to be thought of as a professional should use professional writing tools.

Well worth the price.

Although it doesn't come with much of a manual, it will get my screenplay "down on paper". No software will make me a better writer but, if you just need something to do the formatting as you write, this is it. You can learn how to use it in about 10 minutes, and it doesn't cost a bundle.

Not Worth The Aggravation!

Please, please, please, do yourself a big favor and save your pennies, stand on the street corner if you have to and take donations and buy Final Draft. Sometimes when you pay less you don't get a bargain, you get a lot of headaches which is exactly what this program is. THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS EXCELLENT. I feel sorry for them because it takes both: a good product and good tech support. This does not format stage plays professionally. If you're like me, you don't have the time for all of this aggravation. Spend your money on the professional quality programs, work like a professional and spend the extra time that you're not being aggravated perfecting your craft. I'm giving it 2 stars for the tech support.
