2001-10-251. The case isn't that hard. It is plastic and feels pretty cheap.
2. The palm must be removed before syncing.
One minor complaint is that it isn't left-handed friendly.
It does look pretty good and matches my Nokia 8290.
Had it over a year and still love it!

I've been protecting my 5x with this case over a year and have absolutely zero complaints. Numerous reviewers have referred to a perceived "design flaw" based on the fact that they are having difficulty placing the unit while contained by the case in their charging cradle. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I never considered charging while in the case to be an intended design feature. Granted, I no longer have the box or literature that came with the case, and don't remember if that was an advertised feature, but I've always taken my PDA out of the case prior to placing it in the cradle. I've never found that to be an inconvenience. It's at most a two step process. As far as the hinges go, I've not only dropped it numerous times, but I typically carry it in my back pocket and sit on it without a problem. The hinges function without a problem. And a lot can be said for a product that can protect a Palm 5x with a 250 pound man sitting on it.
Pretty color, cheap construction, design flaws

The blue color looks really attractive - its an attention grabber. The problem with the docking cradle and the clasp are very real. I just got my case and it does not close shut fast. This is not a problem with a weak spring, its a problem with inaccurate plastic molding.
The folks at Ideo who designed this case need to go back to the drawing board.
I would probably not buy this again, its worth more like $... than the list.
Good protection and durability

I bought this 6 months ago and only have some minor scratches on it. Considering everything I do is on my Palm, well worth the investment for hard and durable case. Great color too.
Nice case, a pain to hotsync

I bought this case with my Palm and I'm delighted with it. It's strong (I know it since I dropped it twice and it survived). The colour is eye-catching, making it the envy of your co-workers and a target for every thief in the area.
I only have two complains:
1) The hinge-stops are all but durable... after two month use they are worn out and the cover barely stops on them... not much of a hassle but...
2) Using the cradle with this case it's a pain. You have to open it like a butterfly and leave the cradle on the edge of the table to place the palm without removing it from the case, just cumbersome... I opted for taking the palm out of the case every time I place it on the cradle but that's only twice a day for me, if you do it many time a day maybe you should look for another case.
Never had a better case

I am the type of guy who would forget my Palm was in my pocket and play volleyball. This is the only case that protects while maintaining the thin attractivness of the Palm V. I have since upgraded to the Tungsten and could not find a case that compared to this one.
I wrote a review for the hard case...

But this is actually what I had. No protection is offered by this device. I carried this in an inner jacket pocket for two weeks and wound up with a cracked Vx screen.
Great Case

Cool looking case. Color looks cool, and the aluminum plates really make it look nice...Sounds shady, but it actually arrived fast & brand new.
My only complaint about this case is that the lid does not fold back behind the palm when opened like soft cases & some hard cases; it only flips out flat next to the palm or straight up in the air. This is mostly a problem only when using the cradle, as you have to take it out of the case to get it in there. Besides that one little pet peve, I'm very happy I got it!
Excellent!

I purchased the Palm V hard case in order to protect my palm without being unnecesarily bulky. It fits the job well. As has been noticed with other people, the case is in fact plastic with aluminum pieces glued on, but it's ok. The protection is very good and the aluminum pieces don't detract from it. Also, it looks much better in person than the photo. The photo looks sort of aqua-ish from here, in person it's more like a navy blue. I haven't dropped my palm yet, but I expect the case to handle it very well if I do.
A+ must-have accessory

I had problems with my palm turning on, etc. while in my purse. This case saved the day as I would have given-up on the palm otherwise. Another nice feature is the back pocket -- perfect for holding about five business cards. The sleek case design adds very little to the gerth of the unit. I did discover one minor flaw, when placing the palm into the craddle for charging/syncing, the hard case gets in the way. So, instead of removing the case each time, I simply hang the case hang over the side of my desktop. It certainly solves the problem for me, but it may be a dangerous option for a clumsy person with hard floors.
