Not just for the garden
2005-08-24
The garden kneeler is very sturdy and large enough to make a comfortable seat, whether using it as a bench seat or sitting astraddle of it. I use it in the house when scooping the cats' litter boxes and when sorting items that are in low shelves or lower kitchen cabinets. I have found that any chore that requires bending over, such as cleaning the refrigerator or oven, can be done with less stress on my back by sitting on the garden kneeler, and it can be easily carried by its built-in handle. Turned upside-down, I can save my knees by kneeling on the foam pad, and the side handles are helpful in pushing myself up. Well worth the price!
OK but not as good as the Garden Rocker

THis is simply a bench. I was much happier with the Garden Rocker, which is ergonomically designed has a more comfortable seat, and tilts with the body. It is ingenious!!!
great for big people, too

Because of bad knees and because she is a larger lady, my mom has trouble getting up when she is doing weeding. I was concerned that the kneeler might not be wide enough for her to kneel on, but she said that it's really great and that she's very pleased with it. She said that it will be great for doing floor cleaning, too. I definitely recommend it, especially for people who have trouble getting up from being on their knees working on things.
My knees thank you

My garden kneeler really adds to my joy in gardening! It is quite light, easy to tote along; impervious to being neglected out in the rain; simple and wonderful.
Handy for the Elderly/Disabled

I already own one and shipped to my summer place. I have just ordered another for the winter residence. This item helps me get up and down in my home. I straddle it and it helps me take care of cabinets that are low and do things that are low. A handy item. Will share this one with neighbor in wheelchair to see if it will help him get in and out of the pool.
She couldn't do without it

My mother lives for gardening, and is out playing in the dirt as soon as the weather allows. She'll be turning 90 on her birthday in October, so this kneeler has been an enormous assist to her, not only in kneeling, but as a bench. She's been using it for a month (ever since Mother's Day) and wishes it had come along sooner in her life.
If you garden and don't want a sore back or knees

Excellent product for the gardener who wants a easy to use, adaptable bench/kneeler. Highly recommend.
Excellent stool
2008-04-04
This is an excellent stool for gardening. It's sturdy and comfortable, with rounded corner, and lightweight enough to easily carry from place to place.
The kneeler aspect is a little more problematical, though it may be I'm just not used to it. The thing is, that with the thickness of the pad, plus the framework, it raises your knees 2 -3 inches above ground level. As a result, when you're working on level ground, you end up having to tilt your body forward and downward a bit. I have a bad back and this feels strange to me. I haven't used it much in actual gardening yet, so maybe I'll adjust to this odd posture. I notice no other reviewers have mentioned this though, and admittedly, it would be an issue with any kneeler I guess.
That said, it's comfortable and wide enough for even a large bodied person, though be aware it's going to take a bit of arm strength to rise from a kneeling position.
Regardless, I do recommend this item and can see how it may be useful for a variety of household chores.
easy Gardening

So far, I have only been using the kneeling part of this bench. The kneeling pad is adequately thick and the sides are sturdy for pushing up your body. They do not get in the way of your arms when gardening. The bench is lightweight and the carrying handle is easy to grip. Wish I had it years ago!
great gardener's gift

I purchased this one for my Mom after she admired the one I had bought for my husband a couple of years ago. She loves it! I've checked out a couple of other models and they don't have the overall durability that this one has. For the record, my husband has rarely used the one I bought for him, but I use it a lot. I kneel in the garden with it to protect my knees while planting seeds. I use the legs/side bars to push myself up after a long bout of pulling weeds and salt grass. I use it as a stool to step up to water my hanging plants, sit on it to groom the dog, and a variety of other outdoor tasks. The foam pad has blown around the yard several times and no longer stays stuck on the bottom side of the stool but it hasn't gotten hard or crumbled in our Nevada desert sun. Our seat is always outside in the elements and has held up very well. I recommend it as a very thoughtful gift for the gardener of any age on your gift list.
