Customer Reviews
Exceeded my expectations

I have been on the market for a good waffle maker since the nonstick coating on my old one started chipping away. I purchased the Waring Pro due to the good reviews but found it to be WAY too big and it did not even produce good waffles in my opinion. I decided to try out the Proctor Silex and I was blown away. It made the most perfect restaurant style Belgian waffles quickly and easily. It can be stored vertically so as not to take up much space as well. My only criticism has to do with the handle. It is inconvenient since it is located where much steam escapes causing you to potentially burn your fingers. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with this item.
not bad.

My very first waffle maker... not bad and easy to use. However, even if I use lots of cooking spray, my waffles seem to stick at the edges.

I bought this waffle maker after both of my 16+ year old waffle makers (one was Begium, the other regular) finally got too cruddy to use. As you can tell, i don't easily give up something that works well. I LOVE this new one! The waffles come out perfect everytime--no matter what batter type i use or how many i make at one sitting. Once the iron heats up, the waffles come out within 5 minutes or less of each other..so i have no problem with hungry family. And the waffles are BIG and thick, so usually i go through no more than 2 runs for each (and that's only if there is nothing else being served). I have not yet had a problem with overflow--anything that does is so easily cleaned up. Unlike my old waffle makers, this one cleans up with a slightly moistened paper towel after it is cooled....i can't believe i waited so long to get a new one. And storage is so nice--slips right into the pantry on its side. I have no problem with the click that indicates it is done--it goes so quickly that usually my youngest is sitting right there waiting for the light to go out anyway.

This is a very simple well-made Belgian Waffle Baker that does a nice job baking beautiful waffles. This is a quality product at an attractive price point.

We loved this waffle iron so much that after my last proctor-silex waffle iron died after 9 years we bought another one- pretty good value for 9 year use. It makes great thick crispy round belgian waffles. Great waffle iron.
Great product for the price

I think every home should at least one on hand.
It replaced one given at our wedding reception 12 years ago. (A piece of crap). The waffles don't stick to this one.
It's attractive enough to leave out, very low profile and takes very little counter space, pretty quick, although if you have a large family you may have to start making waffles earlier or buy two.
The only negative feed-back is I found it $10.00 cheaper at a kitchen shop in the local mall.
Not Ideal for a Family, Unless Small

It works fine so long as you remember to spray with nonstick spray every one or two waffles... the problem is: it takes 5 minutes to make EACH. They are delicious, don't get me wrong, but we have a family of 5. By the time the cook gets to eat one Everyone else is done and ready for seconds. You can't eat together unless you keep them heated (perhaps in the oven) and make them ahead. They get soggy easily from their own steam so covering with foil doesn't work. If you are on your own or a small family, it's fine. By the way, the waffles freeze well and reheat to crisp in the toaster OVEN.

Pluses: makes excellent, thick, Belgian style waffles. I've had absolutely no problems with the waffles sticking to the surfaces.
Downsides: compared to the "red" waffle maker, which makes much thinner waffles, this unit takes considerably longer to heat up and to cook a waffle. If you want to feed more than a couple of people, either cook ahead or split the waffles as they're made.
Already Not Working Right After 1 Month

I bought this waffle iron from Amazon.com about a month ago after reading good reviews. It worked great the first couple of times we made waffles, but now it isn't working right. The top side of the waffle cooks much slower than the bottom side, so we either have a way too crispy bottom or we have to turn the waffle over to let the top cook more. Maybe this one is just a lemon?
