Editorial Review
Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. It is important to distinguish between UV-generated haze and that of air-borne particles, such as smog. The latter is made up of opaque matter that absorbs visible light as well as UV, and will not be appreciably removed by a UV filter. The UV Protector shields lens from dust, moisture, scratches, and breakage.

Photo color and contrast 2008-09-03
Tiffen's circular polarizer may not be the cheapest but it is worth the price. It effectively removes atmospheric haze in landscape and city photographs. Colors have deeper tones without appearing artificial, creating a crisper image with enhanced depth. I consider it essential equipment for anyone who wants more than a simple aim-shoot photograph. Highly recommended.

Excellent filter - great price ! Must have for FZ18 users! 2008-09-03
I purchased this filter through Amazon/Adorama for my FZ18k - primarily to protect the front element of the zoom lens. The filter was delivered in it's own case and the packaging is much better than many other brands that I have used in the past. The quality of the glass is good. I have not noticed any distortions in photos takes with the filter. It is a great buy to protect your zoom lens!

Great Protection and Filtering for the price!! 2008-07-17
My filter came in from Adorama in perfect condition and brand new looking. No movement of the glass and no scratches or other signs of use as mentioned in some earlier reviews. The glass is pristine and, in addition to giving me protection for the lens on my Panasonic FZ18, it appears to add some clarity and sharpness to the pictures, especially in bright light. I am not a pro photographer by any means, just an enthusiast. This filter gives me the protection I desire at a lower price point. Adorama's shipping and product was great!

great quality 2008-04-07
everything are of great quality, the pouch and the filters. fit great on my 37mm to 46mm step-up ring.

Questionable 2008-02-24
Shipping delays aside i returned this because of its condition.

It looked almost obviously used, had a scratch on the threads. Needed a severe cleaning at best. Outer edge of filter had indication of usage & prior (attempted) cleaning. Generally in poor shape & possibly the poorest looking filter i've had shipped to me.

I tend to doubt the one i recieved was new/unopened retail. I'm not sure what happened. It appears it was originally out of stock & they may have shipped it from overseas. Some one probly just tossed it together.

Difficult to say this is a 'review' of the product as i doubt the condition mine showed up in is normal.

Can't recommend ordering it from here though.

Very cheap. 2008-01-19
Very disappointed. Glass slides around within enclosure and appears to have defects on edges of glass. Will try to return, but it was so cheap, I expect I will eat the loss if they give me much hassle trying to retun.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."
