Accurate and Consistant

If you are tired of scales that are inconsistant in your weight measurement this is the scale for you. With any other scale I have had I could gain or lose a few pounds just by getting off the scale and back on.
This is not true of this scale. Very well made I am glad I have made this purchase
Great untill the battery died

Like many have said, this is a great scale. BUt once the battery died, I couldn't just replace it with a normal AA battery. Instead of buying a new expensive battery, I'm just going to buy a new scale.
best scale ever 2007-01-15
I've had many scales over the years , but all or most have provided inconsistent readings. The Rowenta is accurate every time. This is the second one I bought; the first one is 4 years old and still provides reliable readings every time. I am very happy with this product.
Great while it lasts, but it doesn't last 2006-11-01
For the first six months I owned this scale, I could have written a 5-star review. Then I started getting lighter and lighter. At first I was pleased, but I kept getting still lighter and lighter until my weight loss was so dramatic I couldn't believe it. I checked myself on a friend's scale and hadn't lost a pound -- the only thing that had changed was this scale's accuracy. Like others, I ordered an expensive replacement battery and saw absolutely no improvement. The scale itself is the problem.
Now it says I weigh half of what I really do. If this keeps up I can fly away...
Bad batteries and expensive to replace, quit working after four years 2006-03-04
I purchased this scale in Feb. 2002. It was great while it lasted. The display started showing ERR, and then went dead. I had to search for a new battery, a special lithium one which cost $12.00 and had to be ordered by a store that specializes in batteries. The scale is now dead again. I don't know if needs another new battery or if the scale has just quit functioning.
When compared to other scales, this is not an inexpensive model. The information offered says the original battery should last for five years. It did not. I have replaced it once, and now need a replacement or a new scale. Something this expensive should last. I purchased this item based on the Rowenta name and very disappointed.
It looks great and is accurate, but will it continue to work? Mine didn't

This electronic scale displays weight almost instantly, and its large (1-inch), high-contrast LCD digital readout is clearly visible. Accurate to 1/2 pound, the scale has a capacity of 350 pounds. Its striking, high-tech platform is made of an ultrathin, supercooled silicate compound (like high-impact safety glass). Stunning, for a scale 2004-06-25
This is a beautiful scale that worked fine right out of the box. I find that when you have an attractive scale like this in your bathroom, you don't feel the need to hide it away when it's not in use. Rather, you can leave it out in the open, as it looks like a piece of art in and of itself. The entire scale is silver, by the way, even though it looks white in the Amazon picture. (Check out Macys.com for another view!) It's kind of a light matte silver that looks great with any color! Enjoy it! This price is a good one compared to other stores.
Neat and Accurate 2004-04-20
Thank you for providing a great pair of scales for obese people. I am very pleased with these scales. With the large platform and sleek design, it is easy to use and step on. I am physically limited and cannot step up. But, these scales are low enough that it isn't a strain on my legs and feet. The read out is clear and large enough to be seen while on scales, as well as quick. I highly recommend these for anyone who has had problems standing on other scales. A wheelchair or scooter can easily be rolled up to these and a person helped up. Great buy.

When an offer for this scale came up in my Gold Box, I read the reviews for all of the scales carefully. This one won.
APPEARANCE -- It looks even better than it's pictures; no complaints there.
PERFORMANCE -- Severely lacking. I already HAD a scale, and only bought another to get one that worked a bit better, so I stepped up to the price on this one. I have to say this is the most disappointing Amozon purchase I've made to date. I read the instructions carefully, I know your weight can vary at different times of the day, etc., but this scale is [1] OFF BY MORE THAN 10 LBS. at times, and [2] INCONSISTENT IN CONSECUTIVE READINGS.
I had occasion to visit two doctors yesterday, and in both offices on one of those 'old-fashioned, black n white, slide-the-weight-across jobbies' my weights were within a pound of each other in the two offices. Difference from the measure taken on this Rowenta before and after? 12 POUNDS!!
In this case that is almost a 10% difference, weigh outside my tolerance level statistically.
Furthermore, If you step on it several times in a row in an hour, the numbers vary normally by at least several pounds, so it doesn't even give a consistently wrong measure (so not even a relative gauge of where you stand in respect of weight).
BOTTOM LINE :: ALL AROUND DISAPPOINTING PERFORMANCE BY THIS PRODUCT
Unfortunately for me (despite having an attic full of 'original packaging') I stupidly discarded this product's packaging, so I am stuck. I now have this expensive item that admittedly is okay to look at if it didn't aggrevate me to see it. Hmph.

Scale works great and has a large area to stand on. Display is very easy to see.
The quality of this scale is first rate.
