Broke right away 2003-05-14
I bought this clamp for a specific project. When I went to clamp the pieces together, the clamp broke. I did not even get ONE use out of it.

OK 2003-03-24
This clamp is OK for the price but I have much better clamps. It is useful for one-handed operations but does not always clamp as tightly as other types.

"Handi" indeed! 2003-03-18
As a woodworker with many types of clamps, I found this little
model to be very useful around the shop. Not the strongest
clamp in the stable but, effective when utilized within
it's limitations. Very quick and convenient.

Mostly worthless 2003-01-06
Not enough pressure. No mechanical advantage applied to work. You might as well use your hand.

too little clamping pressure 2002-09-16
I thought these would replace my spring clamps, which are sometimes too strong for small jobs. However, the Handi-Clamps don't provide enough clamping pressure. I returned mine. I would recommend the Quick-Grip bar clamps, they are just as quick to use and can provide a large amount of clamping pressure. I use them on almost every project.

They don't fetch coffee either... 2006-12-27
I have a couple of these clamps as well as the quick grip bar clamps and C clamps and spring clamps. They all have their perfect uses. These handi clamps are great for what I use them for, which is to hold materials together. I have used it to keep cabinet faces tight while installing screws (not to support the weight), for jigs that will not suffer a great deal of lateral pressure, holding drawer box faces flush while installing runners...etc.

For these things they are good. They are not good for all the things you would imagine a quick, compact, light duty clamp would not be good for. Get the right tool for the job and you will not have as many disappointments.

They won't replace your bar clamps, and they shouldn't be your first clamps, but they have earned their place in my line-up.

Clamps that do not hold 2004-11-09
1 star is too many if you want to use these as clamps!
I have a set of these clamps that I bought thinking they looked handy. They are handy, but if you want them to hold something in place you can not let go of the grips. Every time I have used them I want to squeeze them to one more notch on the ratchet. So far I have not found a good use for these clamps except to keep extension cords coiled and separate.

Good concept, poor execution 2004-06-02
I have had two of these clamps for a few years now. They are as easy and convienient to use as the positive reviews describe, yet I hardly ever use them. They simply won't retain enough clamping pressure for most uses. As soon as I release the handles, about 80%-90% of the pressure disappears. Since basic spring clamps are just as easy to use, hold better and are much less expensive, I see no reason to buy this clamp. If I lost mine, I don't think I would ever miss them.

Excellent in some applications. 2004-02-17
As noted in some of the other reviews, these clamps do not apply that much pressure. As such, they do not work well (or at all)for some applications. When I used them to secure pieces to a workbench for chiseling, they would lose their grip after a limited number of strokes.

That said, these clamps work very well in other situations. I find that these are the best clamps for securing plywood to sawhorses when cutting with a jig or circular saw. They can be applied and removed within seconds, speeding up the work flow immensely. These clamps would be worth purchasing for that application alone.

No pressure 2003-08-25
Doesn't exert enough pressure to be of much use.
