Installation is quick and easy. Initial setup calls for spending some time with the PC software, entering your current statistics and information regarding your goals. Vivonic Fitness Planner asks first for information regarding your height, weight, current fitness rate, current exercise program, and nutrition habits. Then it asks keys questions that are designed to determine your goals. Goals can range from muscle building to cardiac stamina to weight loss.
Once you've completed the initial setup series, you're ready to take your show on the road! By syncing your Palm OS device, all of this information is downloaded to your handheld. You can enter easily anything that you eat throughout the day and any calories that are spent on general living, and update your exercise regimen.
While the Vivonic Fitness Planner for Palm might seem a bit extreme for everyday use, it can be invaluable to anyone who has specific and predetermined fitness goals. It might be a bit impractical for someone who's looking to maintain a current body weight or size; but, for someone who wants to make life changes, but can't afford a personal trainer to assist, this tool is without a doubt the perfect choice. --Kendra Hayden

Is Vivonic defunct?
2003-04-17
I used this software with my Handspring Visor and liked it. I recently upgraded to a Palm Tungsten T and it turns out the software won't work on Palm OS 5.0. So I tried to get ahold of Vivonic...and they are gone. As if they never existed. The web site is shut down, the doors and windows are boarded up and nobody is home without so much as a press release. Do not purchase this software if you are running Palm OS 5.0 or if you care about future support.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! There is NO tech support!

I purchased this product and I have yet to get it to sync properly with my Palm. I am knowledgeable with computers and have had several "gurus" look at it with no help. Whenever I sync with my Palm, all customer meals are deleted. I have emailed tech support - receiving a response 2 weeks later with the exact same software that I installed. Absolutely NO help. They are no longer a part of Intel (sold 2 years ago) and are still marketing under Intel w/no phone number or address listed (all www registration, phone #, and addresses point to Intel). I have contacted Intel and they are going after Vivonic demanding a cease and desist from them to remove Intel from the packaging and registration. The program - if it worked would be great. But frankly having no tech support doesn't make this software worth buying.
This Palm Fitness Planner is Super

I really love this Fitness planner. I like to update it during the day and synch on my computer, but usually end up doing several days at once. It helps keep me motivated to excercise. I created many meals so that I can just add a meal with one click.
Very Helpful Program

I also agree with the shortcomings mentioned in the above reviews but I do find this program well worth buying! I have had several other 'diet trackers' and none came close to keeping me in check as this one. It is well written but can use some tweaking to be perfect. It does keep me very motivated and informed. I too am very surprised how fast sugar adds up. I have learned a lot about nutrition just by using this program. I like the computer use of this more than on the palm but that is more a person preference. It is very handy to be able to take the info with me. I double check food before I eat it to see how it will fit in my program. I wish it would graph body weight/fat etc but there is a place on your weekly Journaling that you can refer to, just not a graph. It's by far the best program out there at this point and it's short comings are small in comparison to the over all help that this program is. Buy it! I do highly recommend it.
