Handle too short
2008-08-08
The idea behind this spoon is great. Holes prevent food from sliding as toddlers bring the spoon to their mouth. The curved handle is not long enough though. It needs to be maybe 20% longer. Otherwise, a great training spoon.
Great spoon.

When my son was first learning to use a spoon, I thought the shape of this handle was kind of odd. When he got a little older and could actually hold food on the spoon and get it into his mouth, they worked great. The holes in the spoon really do help the food stay on and it's very easy for him to grip it.
We must be doing something wrong...

The other reviews rave about how the food stays on the spoon...I'm not sure what we're doing, but we must be doing something wrong.
Right now, my daughter is 1, and still used her spoons more as toys than as utensils. I get that. But when I do get food on her spoon and she does get it in her hand and starts moving it to her mouth...the food falls right off.
I got the spoons because of the great reviews that the food miraculously stays on the spoon...but haven't actually experienced that yet.
Disappointed and hoping for better results as we use it more...
Great product!

Overall a great product. For whatever reason, food seems to stick to the spoon better. And the curve of the spoon makes it easy for my 21-month old to put food into his mouth. He basically finished feeding himself the whole bowl of mac and cheese the other day. And he is so proud of that. As far as cleaning, I thought food will get stuck in the holes. But it doesn't, so it's easy to wash. The only surprise I had was the color. I expected them to be blue and yellow like the picture, but I got orange and pink, which is ok too.
The BEST spoons EVER!!!!!

I try to write short reviews so people don't lose interest. I think all I really have to say is that at 18 months, my daughter STILL wouldn't feed herself, she never tried it much. Usually she would just whine and cry until I fed her. Months of struggle, irritation, worry that she wasn't developing as she should and annoyance passed. I gave her this spoon, she fed herself, and never looked back. BRAVO! I highly recommend these to everyone! I bought more two days after having the first set!!
Toddler spoons

Held upside down, right side up or anywhere in between, Less Mess toddler feeding spoons encourage your child to self-feed. Unique holes help keep food on spoon longer resulting in a successful, easy and clean transition to self-feeding. Top rack dishwasher safe. Ages 9 mos. and up. Assorted Colors. 2 Pack.
Spoon works great, if only the little one didn't eat *it*

We got a few of these when my older daughter was learning to feed herself. She did great with them. But our youngest, now working on feeding herself, has chewed off the rubberized portion of the handle. I'm not sure if this is something many people will have to worry about. While we thought that our older child chewed lots of things, the younger one puts her to shame.
Perfect Spoons for Toddlers

Our Occupational Therapist recommended these spoons for our 19 month old twin boys. They were having a hard time with all of the other spoons on the market, but figured this one out right away. They are perfect for eating Cheerios, yogurt, applesauce, etc. Due to the holes in the spoon, the food is able to stay on easier without sliding off. The handle is curved perfectly for little toddler hands to grasp. I went out and bought spoons for all of my friends with toddlers. They are hard to find.
They really work!

I was surprised that a spoon with holes would hold food, but it does! I mean, when she eats cheerios in milk, obviously the milk leaks through but she gets a spoonfull of food when she eats which is nice. It works best on thick things like pasta, potatoes, not necessarily on completely dry items (like dry cheerios, etc.)
Best spoon for self-feeding!

This spoon has really helped my toddler learn to feed himself. The food stays on the spoon better & it's easier for him to grip the handle.
Highly recommend!
