i have owned 3 of these and none of them have worked any longer than 9 months, the last one lasting less than 3 months...the wiring burns up in each of them and it doesn't work and can't be fixed, i like the big cooking surface but i do not like having to buy a new one every six months
dont' waste your money on this product
Power Problem -otherwise??
2005-12-27
This has nothing to do with Amazon. This product came from a brick and mortar store...I just received this grill for Christmas. I grilled sausage on it the first day and they turned out great -no complaints and better tasting than when cooked on a griddle. Unfortunately, during it's second use the power cut out. I thought it was either a curcuit breaker or Groung Fault Switch- it was neither. The dang thing just stopped working. There is no reset and it doesn't seem to have an access panel designed for consumer use. I don't want to open it up and risk violating the warranty. It would be easy to hate except (after two uses) it turned out great food -when it worked. I'm taking it back for a replacement in the hopes that this was just a fluke.
A piece of crap!

I wouldn't even rate this with one star!! I was given this grill for a birthday present. For the first year it was great. After about a year and a half, the non-stick finish on the grill started peeling off. Now it is a piece of crap that is hard to clean. I only cleaned it with hot water & dish soap. No abrasives! The numbers on the dial are worn off. Only a very few remain. The grease drips everywhere with very little in the drip tray. It started out as a wonderful piece of kitchen equipment but has turned into nothing but a big worthless piece of crap junk that sits on its recommended stand that you trip over the front leg as it sticks out into your walking path.

i used my first large george foreman grill so much, that the teflon eventually came off. i raved about that grill, but the gr62 i recently purchased is a different story. i just purchased another grill, from another company to replace it. the best thing i can say about the grill, is it looks great, and it has a very large cooking surface. the problem with mine is, it doesn't actually grill the meat. unless i'm cooking a very thick steak or some other thick meat, the top cooking surface doesn't touch the top of the meat. so, one side of the meat gets light grill lines, but the other side is just browned. the cooking surface doesn't hug the meat well enough. for the most part, i end up, sort of, baking my meat instead of grilling it. i've read other reviews, where people have complained the grill doesn't get hot enough. that may be part of the problem.

I have had it now for about 3 months and it rates another star. It works as good as expected and then some. No problem with mairnated meats, clean with a dry paper towel between loads and with warm soapy water and a paper towel before I put it away. Excellent, excellent, excellent... Just came back on line to order the stand...
I Hate This Model

Now you can grill anytime anywhere, indoors or out, with this extra large Foreman grill. Like all the other Foremans, this one features the sloped non-stick cooking surface that allows grease and fat to drain away. The temperature control and timer ensure your food will be cooked to perfection. Embedded heating elements in both top and bottom speed cooking and seal in moisture and flavor. There is a grill stand available separately to make cooking outdoors even easier and safer.
Cant Beat It

After reading the mixed reviews I decided to purchase this grill and try it myself. Its amazing it takes up a good chunk of counter space but it allows me to cook two pounds of chicked breasts at a time. Unlike some of the previous reviewers I haven't had any problems at all doing this all two bpounds done after preheating the grill for 10 minutes and cooking for 18 minutes. Cleanup was a breeze I just wiped the grill down whil it was still warm with a soapy sponge and then rinsed. Some have complained about not being able to clean marinades or spices of of the grill without scrubbing. I didn't have this problem but I also sprayed the grill after preheating with a PAM non stick spray made for indoor grills. This is one of the best buys I've made in a long time
Underpowered for size of the grill

If you use this grill to its capacity, like 4-5 steaks or about 8 boneless chicken breasts, and you grill your meat right after you take it out of the refrigerator, this grill will not work for you. A grill full of meat cools this grill (even with 30 minutes of preheating) to the point of having your meat getting steamed instead of grilled. This grill has a hard time generating enough heat to brown or sear alot of meat at the same time.
Grilling meat to half its capacity, the results are a little better with the meat browning a little bit. However you have to wonder why use such a large grill for a little bit of meat?
Looking at the wattage, this is only a 1500 watt unit, which is the same as my toaster oven and probably most other smaller grills. The wattage must be limited because of household safety for most kitchen circuits. This is probably why this unit has a hard time to cook a lot of meat.
My question to the manufacturer is why did you ever design a large unit if you are restricted to only 1500 watts?
If you plan to buy this unit for your weekend parties, my advise is DON'T buy it. You will be very disappointed and embarrassed by its grilling quality.
On the other hand, this unit is great for making bacon. The bacon is thin enough so it won't cool the grill as you fill it to capacity. However, this is a pricey bacon cooker.
George Foreman GR62 Double Champion Indoor/Outdoor Electric

This is my second George Foreman grill (I wore out the teflon on my first one). I didn't have a timer on the other GF grill and really appreciate the fact that I can pretty much set it and forget it with the GR62. This one also has a much bigger grilling space than my previous grill which is a definite plus. The only thing that I might warn you about with this grill is it's size--if you don't have alot of counter space think twice about getting it or purchase the optional stand along with it because it is VERY large. I've read a few comments about the grill being difficult to clean when marinades and/or rubs are used so will a share a tip that I've learned from trial and error. After the grill is completely cooled, take a damp and soapy sponge or dishrag and thoroughly clean your grill. When it is completely clean, rinse completely with another damp sponge or dishrag. Then wipe the grill down with a paper towel. I've found that by doing this the teflon does not get damaged and I no longer have concerns about the cleanliness of my grill.
Wish it was easier to clean.

The George Foreman Grill is a good idea, however they really need to rethink how to clean this thing. Like others have said, forget using any kind of marinade or you will regret it. I wish there was some way to detach the grill and clean it under running water. Scraping off scraps of meat and wiping with a paper towel just doesn't seem very sanitary to me. Plus the teflon is scraping away after less than a year. George, can you go back to drawing board and give us a grill that we can actually wash???
