2002-06-08It works exactly as designed with no problems whatsoever. I can even plug in the sleeve "hot" and it works like plug and play. But if you need a case, you'll have to use an aftermarket "large" PDA case, or a small digital camera case.
A must have for all ipaq users

Although it increases the weight of the unit, it is well
worth this extra storage space given.
Not bad, but not great either

For 40 bucks, you can't really go wrong, or can you.....
Listen, if you are using this just for the purpose of backing up files, go with it, but if you are going to be using this very often i recommend the pc card one. Of course it's a little bigger, but if you are going to add to the size anyway for the compact flash card slot, you might as well go for the pc card. The battery helps a lot and I can usually get 3 to 4 hours of use out of my PDA. 8-9 hours for mp3's. This is a good product, but by no means the best.
Great Expansion

My iPAQ came with this expansion pack and it made all the difference in the world to just the organizer it is by itself.
I have a 256 Compact Flash Card where I have my MP3's and of course all my documents and photographs, I also have a modem to check my e-mail anywhere, and a Network card to connect at the office.
It is kind of bulky, but for me, it is as functional as a PC without having to carry the Laptop.
Works great but doesn't fit in a case

Extend your iPAQ's abilities. Add storage via CompactFlash cards. Get connected via your network. Or access your email through the phone. You can do this thanks to the extension pack. Increase the file storage space on your iPAQ Pocket PC. Use Type I or Type II CompactFlash cards that are compatible with the Pocket PC operating system. Access your company's network (LAN) for e-mail and Web browsing using a standard network cable. Access your Internet account through a regular phone line.
Works perfectly

I agree with most other reviewers, that this SHOULD be included when buying an IPaq. All the others do. Now, it does add a little bulk to the size of the ipaq, but it by no means makes it inconvenient.
Good...But big

Before I begin, I love my iPaq. However, this is my biggest gripe with the iPaq, they need this expansion pack to throw a CF card into them. Without it, the iPaq is small and sleek; with it, it's huge. And, with the sheer amount of stuff out there with Compact Flash connectivity (modem, networking, CF cards, etc), I think it is inane that Compaq didn't at least include it with the iPaq. Or, better yet, build a CF slot into the machine.
Still, it is necessary for what I think is the best PDA on the market. While I think the idea is dumb, it works great and isn't all that expensive. Hence my 4 star rating
You'll need one

A very useful accessory that should come with the IPAQ
Highly Desired Accessory.

The single compact flash expansion sleeve is a minimal way to go for expanding your iPAQ. The iPAQ can play mp3's directly off compact flash, there are a lot of available expansions for compact flash.
It might be wiser to look at one of the "PC card expansion sleeves" as they include an extra battery! You can pick up Compact Flash adaptors for PC cards cheep, like under ten US dollars.
Compact Flash memory can be found at fairly low prices.
With this expansion installed - the protective cover which comes with the iPAC 3765 is a fairly tight fit.
