Editorial Review
The DVD-LV60 portable DVD player from Panasonic offers popular home theater features like Cinema Mode and Dialogue Enhancer in an ultra lightweight and compact package. Convenience features include high-speed smooth-motion scan, auto switching field/frame still, forward and reverse frame advance, and chapter preview. With twin laser pickup, regular-format CDs as well as home-recorded CD-R and CD-RW media with MP3s can be played along with your DVDs. The LV60 player is equipped with S-video outputs, Dolby Digital and DTS output, standard audio/video outs, and optical digital-audio outputs for convenient connection to a TV and audio system. An easy-to-use joystick-type control is featured on the unit.Nothing brings home the cinema experience like DVD, including the enjoyment of rich theater like sound. But sometimes a movie's soundtrack can overwhelm a scene and even drown out the dialogue. The Dialogue Enhancer feature conveniently solves this problem by boosting the volume of the center channel, where most of the principal dialogue emanates when playing a Dolby Digital 5.1 disc, by 6 dB, so viewers don't have to strain to hear the actors during a noisy scene. The Cinema Mode feature is sure to be a film aficionados' favorite. When selected, Cinema Mode enhances the picture by reducing glare, softening resolution, and improving visibility of details in dark scenes, resulting in a more realistic, cinema-like image. The model DVD-LV60 features an impressive 5.8-inch 16: 9 widescreen LCD monitor and built-in stereo speakers. It is expected to deliver up to three hours of playback time (on the lowest brightness setting) from a single charge from the included rechargeable battery pack. The Panasonic DVD-LV60 is Energy Star compliant and comes with audio-video cables, an AC adapter, and slim remote control.

The little Theater 2002-02-12
I love this product. If not for the automatic return default, back to the smallest screen on power up, instead of keeping your size setting's, I would rate this a 5.. But all in all buy it..

Good looking, good value, and great performance 2002-02-10
I spent several weeks pondering whether to buy a portable DVD player and then took the plunge two weeks ago. For me, this seemed the best combination of portability, price, features, and performance -- and I haven't been disappointed. The screen is bright and the sound is excellent (when listened to via headphones; the speakers are OK). The unit has some features that may not initially be apparent. For example, (1) you can turn on a setting to make it emphasize dialog, (2) it will read CD-RWs, and (3) it "remembers" where you were on the DVD, even if you've removed it -- so you can watch a DVD on the plane, remove the DVD before landing, reinsert it at the hotel, and the scene starts exactly where you left off. The LV-60 is well engineered, thoughtfully designed, and a pleasure to use -- in short, definitely worth considering if you're thinking of buying a portable DVD player.

I enjoy this DVD player 2002-02-04
My wife gave me this DVD player as a gift for the holidays. I was really surprised. I've gone on several business trips with it and have truly loved having it with me. The picture is very sharp. The unit is small, about the size of a walkman or so. The battery lasts around 4 and one half hours, or enough for two average movies. I've dropped it twice now with no damage. The sound is pretty good without earphones and very good with earphones (none come with the unit which is my only complaint).

The remote works great. And since the unit plugs into my home TV, the Panasonic DVD-LV60 doubles as my home DVD player as well!

In short, it is lightweight yet durable with a sharp picture and very good sound. A terrific item!

perfect lil' player 2001-12-29
player is JUST the RIGHT size for travel, but it DOESN"T come with a car adapter, case, or EXTRA battery( the bad news)......remote can be used ONLY w/ adapter(bad news)...remote can function across room. no need to aim DIRECTLY at player!.....player gets EXTREMELY HOT within 30 mins.(a warning?)....can also plug into vcr (av) outlets to view dvd's on YOUR tv ( enclosed booklet states NOT to plug into vcr...a misprint?? )...

Panasonic DVD-LV57 Portable 2001-12-14
If you're looking for a portable DVD player, the DVD-LV57 from Panasonic is a great choice. The small 5 inch screen shows crisp, clear images with vibrant colors. The sound is also good. I saw no drawbacks with this little unit and am extremely satisfied with it's performance in every way.

LV'it... 2003-10-24
A brilliant portable DVD player I must say. The image quality is excellent (with quite a big screen for the price..)Supports all region DVD's and te remote control is a handy tool also. I am only disappointed in the fact that it does not support JPG files and that the menu is quite restricted (you can scroll through i.e. mp3-files, but it can't show a listed menu. And I suppose this can't be changed in a 'sofware-like'way. But nevertheless...it plays your DVD's fine...

Mine died after 4 months. 2002-04-24
Mine had no trauma to it. I just loved it and got it on a sale...Just last week though it would not power up with the power cord or the battery pack. Make sure you buy the extended warrenty!

Best piece of technology 2002-04-05
I have yet to receive my LV-60, however, ive tested them out and read a ton of reviews. I am a young female electronics lover, and whenever the new things come out, it is hard to hold back. When portables first came out for [money], I thought...there's no way I'm ever gonna get one of those (although I wanted one...the shiny exterior and deeply crisp screens are hard to resist). I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with DVD, however, the battery does not last long enough to get through a movie, which means there is really no point at all...and it's a computer...which means it has to be kind of big and a hassle to take out and put away...you can't just start it up for the 15 minutes before the airplane takes off, and then have to shut it down..restart...etc etc etc. I do bring it along to watch movies at the hotels on a decent sized screen, but for being constantly on the road..and long flights, the portable DVD offers so much more (and a much finer picture). The Panasonic LV-60 is the one. It is one of the only ones that several stores have said they haven't had returns on. An extra battery for [money] seems worth it, it gives you double the watching time and basically all batteries for electronics are this price, or more. If you like Friends, you can get those DVDs, pop them in this player, and be entertained for hours....you can travel from North Carolina to California without even thinking "are we there yet?". A headphone splitter is inexpensive and well worth it, to share with your neighbor on the plane, or friends/family members who also get bored as hell. This is how I see it...summer is coming up, everyone is gonna travel, right? You've been good, you've worked hard...add to your vacation by indulging you and your family a little more than usual...you won't be sorry. This time when you're on the plane, people will be staring at YOUR silver and blue slender treat, instead of the opposite. If you'be been wanting one, this is the one to get...the most asthetically pleasing and functional portable entertainment system out there, without blowing a ton of cash. I'll follow up when I receive mine...

Awsome little gadget 2002-03-26
I looked for MONTHs to find the perfect portable DVD player. One that combined quality, size, durability, and aforibility. I came out with this one, and I'm very happy with my choice. The picture quality isn't perfect, but I don't really know what to compare it too. It was very easy to work. I took it right out of the box, plugged it in, and watched a movie. (If you're watching a movie with no battery it uses the wall outlet as its power source, if you're not watching a movie, it charges the battery) The only problem, even though its very small, was that I had trouble getting the battery in the remote! And unfortunately the remote doesn't have a volume control... but its not THAT terrible. This comes with a cord to plug the player into your TV, and the quality of this is just as good as any other DVD player. Another thing I like about this player is that is allows you to write VCDs and play them. Many players have copyright locks and don't allow this. But because of this, I can burn VCDs of home videos and play them on my DVD player! Its great... In conclusion, this is the perfect player for just about anyone. There are a few kinks, and the screen isn't as big as some of the other players... But so much makes up for those little things that you won't care about any of it. Great job Panasonic!

The BEST... 2002-03-11
This Panasonic LV60 is simply the best unit in its price range. I originally bought the LV70 which has a 7" screen, but only plays DVD's or CD's. The L60 plays DVD's, Video CD's,CD's, CDR's, CDRW's and MP3's!! And the screen is only 1.2" smaller... The sound of the L60 is superb. There's VSS Cinema mode which improves sound thru the center channel. Though I have BOSE noise cancelling headphones and the sound thru them is also superb. The L70 is a wonderful unit as well, but now you're talking a bit pricey. Don't bother checking out the Sony FX-1, you will be disappointed, especially with the sound (what sound?). This L60 is compact, lightweight, comes with battery pack (attaches in such a way as to not make the unit any higher), an AC adapter, video cables, and also comes with a very sleek remote. If you want to pay more than what this unit costs, you're better off getting a laptop! Remember, this is a "portable dvd player". It should be compact, and this one is! A lot of stores are sold out of this product...because it simply is "the best"! Hope this review helps you in your purchase!
