best toy ever!
2008-07-28
My daughter got baby tad for christmas when she was six months old. It has truly grown with her. When she was little I would push the buttons for her and she named the shapes and LOVES the songs, but as she got bigger she loved pushing the lights herself, and of course giving kisses! Now three, it is the only toy she wont share with her baby sister, so now we get to buy one for her too! We tried to substitute with the fisher price learning puppy, and not even the neighbor kids will play with that one!
A favorite

We have used the lullaby feature for my son since he was just a few months old, and I LOVE it! I turn it on to "6 minutes till night-night" and my son is out! We bring him on trips and it really helps my son get to sleep much better than when we haven't had it. My son is 17 months old now, and has only been interested in playing with the other features of baby Tad for a few months now. I like that it teaches shapes and colors. The volume is adjustable (on the battery pack- took me forever to find it), but it is still a bit loud for night time. I'd recommend this toy even if it only had the lullaby function, so all the rest is just bonus!
(Warning- don't keep this toy the crib with your toddler- the one and only time mine jumped out of his crib, Baby Tad gave him a boost. Thank goodness my son landed in a full laundry hamper!!!)
Best Friend, Baby Tad

This Baby Tad doll is my son's favorite item. He loves giving it hugs and kisses. It is the best item we have to help him go to sleep each night also - "6 minutes till night night" and he's asleep! LeapFrog has stopped making this model (hopefully only for a short while), but I have gotten it as a gift for all of my friends and thier kids all love it too.
Great toy

This is a toy a family memeber bought and I wasn't impressed. We gave it to our 13 month old and he loves it! It's been 2 months now and he plays with it every night and every morning in his crib. Now we need to get replacement batteries.
Hasn't lost its appeal yet!!

This is one of the first toys my son received when he was born about 15 months ago and he still enjoys playing with it! He's finally able to push the buttons as they light up all by himself. He gets so excited when it plays the song he dances right along to the music. So cute! My only complaint is that the toy is dressed as a boy but, talks like a girl. A child wouldn't notice that though. I just think its funny. Also its a lot cheaper at Target than here. Definitely would recommend buying it. A must have!
My son's favorite toy!

Cuddle up to this cute companion anytime. Night and day, this adorable amphibian is a favorite among little ones. Play soothing classical music at naptime or bedtime. During playtime, play songs and learning games that engage young minds for hours. Press the moon on Tad's hand to program up to six minutes of classical music from Mozart, Beethoven and more. Or press the sun on Tad's other hand to hear six fun songs. The flashing lights on Tad's stomach help children learn shapes and colors. Push Tad's cheek for a fun and friendly "I love you" kiss. Tad is soft and huggable with a washable surface. Measures approximately 12 inches tall. Requires 3 "AA" alkaline batteries (included).
Great buddy

My son has had this for a while and he never grows tired of it. He loves it and will carry it around hugging on him all the time. It keeps him occupied playing all the colors/shapes and he loves the singing. It's a great to use as part of a bedtime routine too since it has the bedtime timer on it and plays the soothing music.
My son never got "into" this toy

We got this as a gift when our son was 6 months old. It's a great concept and Tad is really cute. I'd press the buttons and my son would stare at it for a while. Once he was a year old, he couldn't press the buttons himself and found other toys more entertaining. I usually play with my son and he is one of the more patient kids I know, but this toy never did thrill him in the way that other toys did. He's almost 2 and has other, simple, stuffed animals that he's "taken" to. I felt compelled to write a review because I just saw the price tag and I don't feel like this was worth the money.
Not a great buy

My main problem with Tad is that he has no on/off switch. So when you are cleaning up all your baby's toys (usually at nap time) he starts singing when you touch him. Plus, he does not sing for a long time. He plays short little songs then stops and you have to press another shape for another song or he turns himself off. I am going to give mine away because he is just taking up room in the toy chest. My daughter never has played with him, she is 12 months now but got him when she was 8 months.
Baby loves it

My 11 month old loves this toy. I took one star away because the buttons are too stiff for her to push, although she paws at them I still have to press them for her in order to make sound come out.
