Won't SHUT UP!!

My daughter recieved this drum last year for Christmas when she was 9 months old. She didn't play with it at first which I didn't think was that big of a deal because she got so many other items. Now here we are a year later and she has yet to become interested in this drum. Sure she has hit is several times and she will get into a spell once a month where she will hit is repeatedly but then quickly loses interest.
The drum however is disliked by the adults even more!!! The drum is VERY sensitive and will sound off if I walk heavy. We store this drum in her cubbies and if she digs in a separate cubby for a different toy, the drum starts singing. That I understand, but what I don't get is why it won't SHUT UP!!! This toy takes FOREVER to stop singing. I know most of her toys have a timer so after the child loses interest it will make noise or say something to try and draw the child's attention back over to play but this toy is UNBELIEVABLE!!! The toy starts singing and it is a good 5-7 minutes later that it FINALLY stops talking. So that is really annoying when it accidently goes off and then you can't get it stop singing and when it finally does, you're walking out the room singing "Play the drum everyone play the drum, go ahead hit the drum it's fun. . . " I wish my daughter had never received this drum and would never recommend it to someone else!!
great toy...if it works 2006-11-22
This is a great toy - my noise loving son has a blast with it! When you tap on the drum, it moves on to the next letter of the alphabet or number. However, after a month, our drum quit recognizing when you tap on it. It plays the background music and talks to you but that's all. It's worthless as a learning tool but my son still loves it for the music it plays. There is short warranty (I think 90 days), but I didn't realize this until 6 months later. I tried to see if I could fix it myself but that didn't work. There are many better quality toys out there - I would not recommend spending money on this one.

We got this as a gift over two years ago. My toddler still loves it and now his baby brother does too. I don't think I've ever replaced the batteries either. We love it.
Shorted out, has never recovered

We bought this drum two years ago for our daughter. It soon became stuck on certain letters, almost as though there wasn't enough battery power. Even though we replaced the batteries, the drum never really recovered and still behaves erratically.
It was cute, has a nicely adjustable volume but basically fell apart. There are better "banging" toys than this one.
We also paid 1/3 the price listed here. I assume this is some kind of error since the exact same drum in the Spanish version is only $20 on Amazon.
Wonderful educational toy for any toddler 2006-10-19
We bought this item for our daughter's first birthday because of her love of music. She loves to play with it and learned very quickly how to use it. Our three year old son even loves to practice his ABC's with it.

I received this drum as a shower gift before my daughter was even born from an insightful mother of two. Even as a baby, my daughter enjoyed watching me play it and started to learn the reward of banging the drum herself. She still enjoys playing this educational toy at the age of 2 1/2. I am so impressed with the entire line of LeapFrog products. (We own many of them!)

My kids have played with this toy for hours. A bit annoying for adults, it does have volume control. It's not very educational, but it's a TOY. Buy them a calculator if you want education.
Great for busy little hands! 2007-01-16
This is my #1 gift for all babies on my list. I even have fun playing it - they first hit it accidentally & get a reaction then the real fun begins. The letters (or number) appear with each hit & the sound isn't too loud that it scares them. I've gotten rave reviews from everyone I've given it to. They even have a Spanish version!

I love this drum! My brother bought this for my daughter when she was about 10 months old. We still have it and she just turned 3. This is definately a toy that will grow with your child. It was fun and entertaining when she was an infant. As a toddler, she counted and sang along. Great ABC teacher!
A great toy that will delight a child for a long time. 2007-01-09
We bought this for our twin granddaughters for their first Christmas. They loved it. A year later, they still love it and play with it every time they visit. Now they are picking up on the other features such as copying a rhythm and changing the drumbeat. It really is a good value.
