So good we're buying another (doesn't last forever)

This was a valuable learning tool when my kids were learning their letters and how to read. Just when I thought my oldest daughter was way too old for this she had to memorize the 50 states and all of the state capitals; the map was invaluable.
We have had our LeapPad for six years and it is on its third "owner" so I can't really critisize the fact that the wire holding the pen in has given out on us and the toy no longer works.
We're buying a new one!

I purchased LeapPad plus writing and my 5 year old loves it. He has had it for a year! My friend had a LeapPad which stopped working. She sent it back to LeapFrog and they sent her a brand new one!

I bought this for my 5yo for Christmas and I am truly amazed by how she gets into it for long periods of time, loves it, and is learning so much. It comes with 2 books and we got 2 extras. She can't get enough, there's so many activities.
I didn't have any problems with the unit, even if some friends told me that it sometimes glitches out. No problem yet!
Well, I guess my only problem is 3yo baby sister that got hooked on it and now guess I need to buy another or the teen aged nieces that seem to find it interesting, too!!! I'll ask them for new batteries soon!
It is so amazing in all it can do and teach, I just couldn't recommend it enough.
What a great educational tool!! 2005-11-02
I purchased this toy for my daughter's 4th birthday because she was having trouble remembering her letters. After a week of playing with this toy, she has already memorized most of the alphabet, including the lowercase letters. What a great toy! I can't say enough good things about this system. I only wish it wasn't as popular as it is, because it's hard to find some of the more popular books!!
Leapfrog LeapPad 2007-11-04
I bought this for my 5 year old and it was pretty much a hit. She likes playing games on my laptop more, but spends a good deal of time using her leappad. It has a microphone with which she and her sister love to record themselves and play back. We've taken it with us on vacation and kept them busy when nothing else would. She's already learned all of the planets in our solar system and the moons around Jupiter and she's only 5!
Good size too - easy for a small child to carry but plenty big enough to feel like something very substantial. It lets you know when the batteries need replacing, (can't remember how many AA's but very reasonable) and it lasts a long time on one set of batteries.
Really a good product and I don't regret buying it.

I've had the pink Learning System for a couple of years now and it's great. My kids were playing with it a few hours ago. It's been dropped, banged around, moved, you name it and it still works great.
Be aware though that the spiral bound Leap Pad books are not nearly as durable. All of our books have ripped; I believe each one is missing at least one page.
So if you're planning to invest in a Leap Pad system and the books, you should know that you'll be replacing books fairly often but you won't need to replace this system.

My sister got this when she was four with about 6 books included. I think my parents should have bought books along the way to keep up her interest with the leap pad beucase now she doesn't use at all becasue she knows the books and game backwards and forwards.
So if you plan on buying this and want to buy books to go with it, I suggest spacing the purchases out. Giving my sister 6 books at one time might have seemed like a good idea at first but now she's ready for more, and they haven't thought of buying any more books. Don't forget theses are still books. Children will want to read something new!
LeapPad Learning System 2007-01-10
Our granddaughter is three years old. We bought the Learning System after her baby sister was born. Babies receive all of the gifts and we wanted Natalie to have something special too. She loves it and calls it her computer. It is easy for her to use. We bought her the hand-held LeapFrog product for Christmas. Another winner. It keeps her occupied in the car - her own personal GameBoy type of toy.
Overall, these are excellent products.

My sister owns this Pink LeapPad and it is awesome!!!
This book will teach you how to read,write,solve math problems,and play games. I am planning on getting a LeapPad myself. It has numerous characters such as SpongeBob,Hello Kitty,and even Leap. If your children are having trouble with their education and they are a girl,get this pink leappad today!!!
