Not for Mac
2006-02-24
Two main disappointing points:
a) it doesn't run on my Mac, and
b) it runs on my Window machine, but doesn't read old mac KID Pix files.

I really want to get this for Christmas because I have it at my school. It is great for my sisters and me, Reilly at 9 years old. My classmates at school mostly listen to the cool background songs at slideshow. I do mostly go to kid pix because I like it. Well, BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Creative stimulation

As a mommy, I love this program. It is really fun and creative if you like to use the right side of your brain occassionally. Educational is not just readin', writin', and arithmetics. You'll have to sit with preschool kids since there are so many options, but older kids can create some neat pictures and slide shows. One of the fun parts is the moving images, and I really wish that the manufacturer would offer an opportunity to add more moving graphics. I would buy this again.
Great Free Play SW For Kids

Great software! My 3 year old loves it just to draw, listen to the music shorts, watch the animation on some of the objects, and then throwing the delete "dynamite" and seeing it all disappear. Works well for her as she's still too young to follow the stories and games in many other software packages. But pointing and clicking on the screen she's mastered with the help of Kid Pix. Also, my 6 year old uses it for cards and for school projects. It's Power Point for the 12 and under set.
Bad Pix

This CD is highly over-rated. There is nothing much to it. Don't judge a CD by its cover. This CD is not what it seems. Mostly a drawing package, not very educational at all, and quite boring.

Outdated software

This runs in a 16 bit emulation mode which means that you cannot toggle back and forth between this and other programs. It was designed for the days of DOS and Windows 3.1 and forces me to close and reopen some programs running in the background after quitting this program. That said, it's okay software. It's basically MS Paint with a few bells and whistles aimed at children. I would not reccomend it for any child who has not mastered pointing and clicking with a mouse. It was a little too advanced for my 3 year old although she enjoyed trying. I'm going to keep looking.
I say 9 stars *********! Age 3 to adult will LOVE this!

***** Kid Pix is definitely the number one Software item on any list for kids age 3-13. I rank it high on the shopping list for Adults, too! This software is incredibly flexible and allows for artistic creativity, while still providing enough structure, for very young kids.
~
***** The Software is very very easy to use. Emma and Ben were absolutely professional at this program at age 3. In fact Emma had to warn me when I wasn't saving a picture correctly.
The program allows for freestyle drawing, but also has so many additional touches that make it exciting to the kids. Naturally, the first thing they go for is the "stamps"- little pre-designed artworks of objects commonly used in pictures: teddy bear, cake, etc.
~
***** The flexibility of this software makes it astonishingly easy to personalize and expand on: at age 4, Amanda was "editing" the "stamp" of the teddy bear to make it look more like *her* "sugar bear".
~
***** This program only gets better, if you add more software from the same company- we got "The Amazing Writing Machine" and were able to import all of the stamps from that program into the studio.
~
***** You can also open any photograph in a JPEG or GIF or BMP format, and spice it up with the Kid Pix Studio.
~
*****If I could only have one piece of software on my computer- it would be a difficult choice between my Netscape browser, and this Kid Pix Studio.
If this review form allowed it, I'd give it 9 stars *********- (do you get the idea I think its Great?)!
Kid Pix Deluxe-Great Educational Tool
2002-05-01
My child's school uses this software and he spoke of it all the time so I purchased a copy for home use. It is a great teaching tool to allow children to become familiar with the computer, mouse control, keyboard familiarization, various menus like File, Edit, View and how to open files. And best of all no matter what your child clicks on, they don't receive any error notices because this software is very forgiving. It allows children to be creative while becoming comfortable with computers and their operation.
Kid Pics great for elementary students

My son's second grade class uses Kid Pics and successfully completed a drawing of a bat on a tree limb with "Bat Facts" typed along side of the picture. The software is both kid and teacher friendly and is an asset to our computer room in school.
