Great fun and great thinking! 2007-03-09
A great game that kids love - the skills and knowledge taught are invaluable and the kids love to play it! A must on everyone's shelves!

Very Fun Game! 2006-08-13
This game is very fun! I remember playing the original Oregon Trail game and it was fun as well but when Oregon Trail 2 came out, I had to have it! I could easily play this game for hours! It is pretty cool because the graphics are way better than what the original game was and there is way more products that you can purchase for your trip. Also, I love the way that they show a video of someone talking to you or when you go to a major point on your trip it'll show a video talking about that as well. This game is truly awesome and should be compatible with any computer built in the past 5 years.

Fun and Educational Game 2006-03-27
While I've only played Oregon Trail 1, 2, and 4 in my youth, I can easily say 2 was the best of the series. Oregon Trail puts the player in the 1800's during times when people hoped for a more properous life out West. The history of Oregon Trail is very interesting and this game does a good job of showcasing many elements of that era into the game.

The basic goal of the game is to reach the end of the trail by traveling through the Oregon Trail. Along the way you'll face various dangers, obstacles and diseases, and will need to make choices - sometimes life or death - that best get you through the situation.

The game was incredibly past its time when it came out, and there are so many things you can do and so many options that the possibilities are endless. Very rarely will you encounter the same experience with every trip on the trial. Perhaps the most unique feature of this game is that there are 4 destinations you can get to, not only Oregon City, Oregon.

I remember I used to always get freaked out by the sometimes frightening and dramatic music that the game gives when something terrible or dangerous happens. I don't know if kids would be scared by that but that's perhaps the only flaw I find with the game. I just always turned the volume off while traveling.

Personally, I believe that this version of the game has the most replay value and educational value, and its also fun for adults and children alike. It's definitely a game I would say you could play together as a family.

Let me give you some insight into two of the other versions of the game, and why they are passable.

Oregon Trail 1 was a very good classic game, but the DOS graphics may be a little too cartoony and blocky for people who enjoy a more realistic experience.

Oregon Trail 4, a newer version is also not too shabby. However, there are multiple reasons why it's flawed.

1. It has 3 discs and requires you to switch discs as you advance through the game.

2. It uses an older version of Quicktime that is required to view most of the animations, which really add most of the life to the game. I've been having problems viewing those animations on my XP computer.

3. One destination as opposed to Oregon Trail 2, and the experience doesn't vary a whole lot with each play.

Oregon Trail 2 is the best version of the game and a really good game overall. If you like adventure games, the freedom and challenge that this game gives will not dissapoint. In my opinion this game greatly honors the Oregon Trail and those who traveled on it in the 1800's.

Buy it!

Way Cool Game 2005-11-11
I played this game in school and it rocked! When you start out, you choose names for your people and buy lots of interesting things to help you on your journey. Then, you travel the trail! Along the way, you'll encounter lots of different senarios, such as sickness, injury, robbery, and natural disasters. Plus, you get to hunt a variety of different animals that are actually native to that area. All in all, a really awsome game, and well worth the money.

Very well done 2005-10-11
I started playing this game when I was much younger, but even after all these years I still enjoy it. In a sense I'm not sure that you can be too old for the game (I am nearly 20 and still enjoy it).

I think that it is a great educational tool. I learned quite a bit about the Oregon trail era by playing this game and what it was like travelling the Oregon trail and the history and geography of the area. You learn without even really making an effort at it, and it is fun.

Highly recommended.

i would have gave it a elevendy if i could. 2005-09-29

Oregon Trail 2 2005-09-27
I had some difficulty getting this game to work, though I don't think it the fault of the game--it is an older version and we knew that when I ordered it. I finally went to the website the game is supported on and the website for the computer/s we wanted to load this on; amazingly I finally was able to get the game to work ok on Windows XP by using the compatibilty ability of XP, asking for compatibility with Windows 95 and changing the resolution and bit settings. Otherwise we were having trouble with immediate black screen, and freezing up at the first river crossing (both of these problems are mentioned on the website; I haven't been able to load it onto my nephew's computer sucessfully; he uses Windows 98, which should work ok, but even though he has the RAM the game requires, it appears not to when we try. I purchased this for him for a thank you for help he gave me this summer; I guess he will have to use it on his parents computer for now. He had remembered it from using it some while back and is enjoying it again. The game works really well once the difficulties are overcome; the seller did great in prompt delivery and the game was exactly as described. I am rating 4 stars only because of our difficulties getting it to work.....Otherwise, thanks for a great job & the game is great!

An Excellent Game 2005-06-19
This is a great game for adults and kids alike. It is lots of fun to travel the trail and learning about pioneer times. It also teaches you how to manage your money, people, and food. Once again, a great game.

Oregon Trail 2 2003-11-24
This is a fun game I played at school more than once. Once I caught so much game, my wagon couldn't carry it all! I enjoyed playing it and am now asking for it from Santa.

Great game for ages 6 or up, SO-so price 2003-07-29
Well, before I start I must say I bought this game 3 years ago []for $10. The newer versions are the same price. But if your a classic game lover than this is your chance. It's easy but strangely fun many times over and over again. I'd say it's a top 5 software game to have. Works on most computers, But if you have a new one-get a newer game. I almost prefer this more than the 4th-so much more simplier and actually more fun. you choice
