This remote works with the slimline PlayStation2. I was worried about compatability when I first purchased this product, but was relieved when it worked. Because the slimline version does not have a CD tray, the eject button does not work, but why would you want it to eject from far away when you have to get up to change the disc anyway?
The is great for those cold or lazy days you don't feel like getting up to turn on/off the console!

I don't see the point of buying a remote control for your PS2 when you can use your controller to play DVDs. to me a product like this is a waste of money.

Ok I bought this so that my 6 year old could play DVD's in his PS2. It works really good. BUT if you have your PS2 connected to your VCR instead of directly to the TV, you have to buy a special cable to hook your PS2 to the TV (about $15).This cable doesnt interfere with you satelite or cable because there is a place on the side to screw that to. If you dont have this special cable you will have blackouts on the DVD's you play to keep you from recording the DVD's with your VCR. We really do like this remote because we have the TV on a wall hanger to keep my boys 3,4 and 6 from messing with it, and it makes it easier for us to use the PS2.

I thought this remote would work for my PS2. I was wrong. The only thing it did was make the screen go all white. Don't waste your money on this remote!

The remote works well. I'd love it if you could hit more than one button at a time... IT WOULD BE A WHOLE CONTROLLER!!! hehehe Yeah i've used it to play guitar hero. Its a bit odd and has a lot of buttons. Still, a bit easier than the controller.

MY DVD player recently died on me and I've not had the need/will to purchase a new one. I started watching DVD's on my PS2 until I decided on a new dvd player. I searched around Amazon and purchased this remote for it.
It's great! Just like owning a new DVD player.
this only work for the slim version 2007-03-20
is you have the standart version of the console, this dont work , beware!

I use to own a smaller cheaper remote that worked occasionally with my ps2, otherwise I'd have to walk all the way across the room to start a movie, skip a scene, or just turn it on for the movie to start that's in it. This was a hastle so I got my cash together and brought the real thing... and I must say I have throughly impressed.
Wait... I'mma try it now... YAY!!! My PS2 turned on... and it turns off... amazing...

I am only writing to help make sure you do
not get the wrong product, as I and others
have.
The product description states this is model
number SCPH-10171 / 97072 (which includes IR
receiver and DVD driver disc). However,
gamestop.com sent me model number
SCPH-10420 / 97076 (which includes only the
remote and works only with newer PS2 models).
Another person "Bradley Monton" also had a
similar experience, as stated in their review
of "PlayStation 2 DVD Remote Controller Kit".
