I love it!

I love it! Not a lot of detail nec. It is light, sets up quick, is sturdy, and adjusts very quickly to support long stock. I loved it so much, that I just picked up a second one for my other saw.
Best Home Track I've Seen
2008-04-27
The large sliding compound miter saw is a tad heavy for this track, but it does work quite well; certainly better than any other track I've seen. Remember, you need room not only for this long track, but also for the long pieces of moulding which will overhang even the far ends and extensions. Don't waste your money on the track, unless you are prepared to acquire rollers, supports, stops and extensions. The track without these accessories is not worth the investment. Because it takes up so much room, I also recommend placing the unit on wheels. It allows you to move, rotate, store and quickly access the equipment without tugging and distorting the aluminum track. You'll need a vacuum, blower or furry brush to keep wood or metal dust from binding the sliding surface, but this is not problematic. If the track came on locking casters, I would have rated it 5-stars, even though it's slightly under hefted for the 12" sliding compound miter saw.

My Dewalt miter saw fits perfect but that is expected. You just hook the front of the brackets on the rail and rock the saw back and the rear of the bracket snaps in place with the spring loaded rear handles. So it is very easy to mount and unmount the saw to the stand. Once the saw is mounted to the stand is is very secure with no free play. Old reviews said this stand doesn't come with the saw brackets or the hardware to mount the saw to the brackets, well mine did so they must of heard everyone complaining about it. At the same time I saw the price jump up. But that is fine with me to have an out of the box working solution. I've cut 12 and 16 foot 2x4's on this stand it is feels very sturdy. It make a great working platform for measuring and marking off lumber. I thought the price was a bit high but it now seems like money well spent. The fold up feature of this stand makes if fit in a compact space and I love the handle on it for hauling it around. There is nothing flimsy about this stand and the legs snap into an open or closed position. This is why I like Dewalt they aren't the best but you generally get get a good product for your money.

when you click through to the web site you find that for this price, you only get the stand, not including the saw. either an error or a lie.
You get what you pay for

I agree that this is, overall, a very good stand for the price. Its durability, though, is not what one would expect from Dewalt products.
Pros:
Very portable and rust-proof for those days you need to transport it in an open pickup bed in bad weather.
Cons:
- Some screwing around was necessary to get my Makita 1212 to even mount to the supplied base.
- Makita saws have a higher deck height than Dewalt saws and mine required shims (made from maple blocks) to allow the outfeed supports to line up w/ the saw's deck. Using shims on the outfeed supports prevents the flip stops from functioning as they were designed.
- All four rubber feet have come off the bottom of the stand at different times and I've had to resort to a variety of adhesives to try to keep them on (without the feet the stand will gouge a wooden floor).
- The wing nuts attaching the outfeed arms to their sliding trays have both broken off. Now it is difficult to get much torque to adequately tighten them down. They can be replaced, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
- The screws attaching the sliding tray mounts to the outfeed arms are prone to breaking as one of mine did in cold weather. It took a $.40 bolt (metric), time and a maple washer to get it back in working order.
Dewalt, what's wrong with you? Come over here and let me slap you...
Low Cost Assistant

Sturdy, dependable and convenient all at a realistic price. I've been using the stand with my DeWalt mitre saw to construct a deck at my home. It's alarge deck wrapping around two sides of my house; 12' wide and totalling 48' in length. Just to make thing as difficult as possible for myself, I am using PVC decking (Treks Escape) in 16' and 20' lengths cut on the diagonal. It hasn't been boring! The biggist assist I've received has been from this stand. PVC decking has many pluses and two particular minuses: it's hard to cut and it sags extremely. As a result, the boards have to be supported during cutting - this stand has been a lifesaver! I could not have done this job solo without this saw stand but have had no problems with it.
The stand is sturdy, lightweight and fold up nicely.
A great accessory for my miter saw

For my needs in a home woodshop, this stand is great! The stand came free with the 12" sliding compound miter saw on Amazon.com, so that was a great deal. It is solid and it's nice that the work supports are so easy to adjust. I agree with some of the other reviewers that this isn't the miter saw stand for a contractor/heavy use. I don't have any other miter saw stand to compare it to. For the money I spent on it (nothing!), I LOVE IT!
Buy it!

If you have a DeWalt Miter Saw, or if your miter saw might fit on this workstation, you should purchase this wonderful back saving tool. Very sturdy, very easy to set up, very functional, if you can afford one of these, or even if you can barely afford it, buy it, your healthy back is worth more then a few hundred dollars.

I am a professional self employed trim carpenter that uses this product on a regular basis. I have two dewalt miter saws I use with this- a ten inch single bevel and the double bevel 12 inch. The stand supports both saws well (1 at a time of course) and is very sturdy, much more than it looks.
I doubted it's ability to hold as much weight as stated on the tag at the store and suspected it would easily get bumped out of whack by setting heavier materials on the extensions. I was wrong, luckily It works very well.
It really solves the classic problem of setting up the miter saw correctly and quickly on a daily basis and having a good support that is super quick and easy to adjust. Once you set this thing up it stays right for a long time. It is about as easy as a folding card table to set up. I sure wish I had one of these to use back when I was working by the hour for the local builders I used to work for.
Just in case anyone was wondering as long as you use another current model Dewalt miter saw you do not have to adjust the height of the extensions when swapping saws out as dewalt was nice enough to make both my saws the same height despite being different blade sizes. Extra saw mounting brackets are available for a fair price. They even sell the end brackets too if you need a replacement or have a need for more than one set. If you are like me you like to minimize setup time to enhance productivity.
I select what saw to use based on the days work, because it makes no sense to run a $400 plus specialty crown and large trim saw to cut up the 90% of a normal homes trim that a $220 and much lighter 10 inch saw can handle just fine. 10 inch blades are ten bucks cheaper on average than comprable 12's too- and when you burn through them like I do it can add up over time.
Good product for a pro carpenter like me. Dewalt has always made the best miter saws and accesories. This one is no exception, Highly recomended!
