Great piece & price...lousy shipping care & open box!
2009-06-30
DEWALT DW723 Miter Saw Stand at a very good price but delivered killed by UPS (Uniformly Poor Service)handling. It was in an open box, resealed by a few pieces of tape. One knob was broken, had adented leg and feet that appear used. Maybe that's why the good price. Strangely the replacement was delivered pretty much the same way, only without the broken parts. Taking it back to UPS was a hassle. Their people are as about as nice as the counter folks at the post office. I figure I have about five hours of my time, and more...since I could not use the first one when it arrived, so the $219 with "free" shipping was not such a good deal.
Is there an upside...yes! This is the first such problem ever with an Amazon purchase and they acted quickly to correct it. Would I do it again? No, the dewalt store had the same piece for the same price, in a factory sealed box, just plus state tax. I've had more than the tax in hassle.
That's the way it was...
Very impressive stand, better than ridgid MSUV, but some minor negatives

I am an avid home DIYer and I purchased this stand about two years back from Home Depot to mount my Craftsman 10" miter saw. The mounts lined up perfectly with the saw and removing the saw from the stand is a breeze and beats kneeling down while I use the saw sitting in my driveway.
I purchased two extra mounts and two additional support/stops from Amazon to use with long boards and I mounted my portable tablesaw on the second set of mounts which allowed me to work comfortably on projects outdoors.
I upgraded to a Ridgid 12" compound mitersaw a few months back, and figured this stand wouldn't be steady enough with the larger saw, so I purchased the Ridgid MSUV. The Ridgid stand was much bulkier and way to heavy for my needs. (But it honestly was a nice, sturdy stand) I have a basement shop with stairs to the driveway and the MSUV was too heavy and bulky for my needs. So, I test mounted the ridgid saw to the Dewalt stand, and haven't had an issue since.
The issue I do have with the stand is that the slide out extensions don't stay locked in the closed position very well when being stored. When you pick the stand up to move it, the extension slides out and usually bangs into the floor (or your foot) in the process. Also, for most projects, the stand is actually a bit wider than is needed, but that hardly seems like something that should be a negative.
I honestly would buy this stand again.

The product is exactly what we were looking for and for a great price. The item shipped and arrived in a timely manner . . . we are pleased.
Another "Must-have"

I bought this after seeing my brother's. He made an adapter plate for his Craftsman chop saw, so that he could use the DeWalt mounting clips for this table. I did the same with my Craftsman saw, and recently finished a back deck stairway using the saw and stand. What a dream of a tool; don't know how I could get along without one now!
Nice, Very Nice. . .

This is one nice piece of equipment. Very solid and well made. I have a Bosch 12" non slider saw that fits it great. The thing that I like most is that when you mount your saw to the detachable rails, you can take your saw off the the stand and still use it without taking off the rails because they have feet on the bottom of them. It is very easy to set up and tear down and very portable. One nice thing is that if you have to extend the ends to support long stock, you can always buy more of the supports and put them between the saw and the end to support flimsy stock.
They also sell the rails you mount to the saw separately in case you want to buy extra ones to mount just about any bench top tool. Dewalt did a good job on this one.
Just buy it!

DEWALT DW723 Miter Saw Stand
Like Having a Second Set of Hands

I recently purchased the DW723 Miter Saw Stand in anticipation of installing some new base moulding in my home. After completing my most recent job, I can't believe I did not purchase this stand with my miter saw two years ago. Matter of fact, you shouldn't buy a miter saw unless you will also buy this stand. Here are the benefits:
You work at a comfortable height. No stooping over and using phone books as a material rest if you're placing the saw on a floor or concrete pad. I did several crown jobs "on the ground", never again!
The stand is light weight, compact, and the saw easily attaches and detaches from the stand for storage or transport.
The material rests support full length trim and are fully adjustable with respect to height. This function alone is like having a second set of hands when dealing with 16-foot lengths of trim.
The stand rail has enough width and length to rest things like a tape measure, pencils, framing square, and clamps. This is a bonus since all of your measuring, marking, and stabilizing tools are easily at hand.
I read some concerns about the stand's wing-nuts and adjustment knobs being made from plastic. While I would agree that aluminum would have been a better choice since these are high stress components, I think the plastic should prove sufficiently durable for the DIY person.
Overall, this stand is really a must have if you are DIY person.
DEWALT DW723 Miter Saw Stand

I purchased this stand to use with my DW715 miter saw, and love it. I am sure there are units out there that are heavier built, but this has done everything I have needed it to do, it is very lightweight for the features it has, and it is very easy to break down for transport. I purchased it from Amazon, and received it within three days. Overall, I really don't have anything bad to say about it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-built miter saw stand.

Sturdy, dependable and convenient all at a realistic price. I've been using the stand with my DeWalt mitre saw to construct a deck at my home. It's alarge deck wrapping around two sides of my house; 12' wide and totalling 48' in length. Just to make thing as difficult as possible for myself, I am using PVC decking (Treks Escape) in 16' and 20' lengths cut on the diagonal. It hasn't been boring! The biggist assist I've received has been from this stand. PVC decking has many pluses and two particular minuses: it's hard to cut and it sags extremely. As a result, the boards have to be supported during cutting - this stand has been a lifesaver! I could not have done this job solo without this saw stand but have had no problems with it.
The stand is sturdy, lightweight and fold up nicely.
