A lesser known title, but very good! 2008-01-20
While I hate to admit it, my 8 month old is hooked on Baby Einstein. His favorites are Baby Shakespeare, Baby McDonald, Numbers Nursery, and Baby VanGogh--i.e., all the classical puppet format types. Baby Shakespeare has beautiful imagery and poetry, but also the fun puppets my little guy loves to see. I've researched the BE series thoroughly, and highly recommend these. While I am not crazy enough to think the videos will make my baby smarter, I do like that I know what he's seeing, I get a few minutes to shower, cook, etc, and most importantly, he loves them!

Great DVD, my 6 month old loves it. One problem was that the DVD didnt work on our DVD player in Australia, and so had to get a hack to unlock the DVD player.

Get them off to a very good start with these videos, and this special one, Baby Einstein - Baby Shakespeare - World of Poetry, Just the Cat's Pajamas,. Awesome!!! 2007-03-23
We absolutely love this video. I love that it combines actual speaking along with music. My boys, now 2, both can recite some of the poems. It has always captured their attention and kept them occupied. While I am not a huge fan of videos for babies, I make an exception for this one. It is mildly education but loads of fun. I definitely recommend this video!!!

Baby Shakespeare 2007-02-19
Wonderful DVD with lots of information for my 14 month old. He absolutely loves these movies and actually will repeat what they are saying. I don't feel guilty having him watch these over and over because he learns while being entertained.

Useful only as pretty images 2007-01-16
I bought this at a consignment store for 2 dollars, and that was more than it was worth. Usually I've purchased used BEs becasue they have nice shots of animals, though I am constantly amazed at how they claim to be educational when they are so poorly designed. The design of this DVD reflects exceptionally inadequate understanding of how infants acquire language. Words are introduced by showing parts of objects that would be difficult for a baby to identify (such as bits of an object shown through a camera lens, or showing toys that look minimally like the animal/object), they are presented in such a way that it is sometimes difficult to determine which object in the shot is the one that goes with the word, and most importantly they don't pair the spoken word with the images. How is this supposed to be 'from a baby's perspective' as they tout, when they have clearly little grasp of how to make something accessable to a developing mind? Not to mention that babies and young children don't understand figurative language (like metaphor) so exposing them to adult poetry seems more geared towards parental egos than anything else.

Excellent Language Introduction for Youngsters 2006-12-22
My son just *loved* this video but then again, he's loved all the 'language' videos produced by this company. I actually really enjoyed the video also even though there were some odd parts where certain animals were introduced but no coinciding skit afterwards. I especially found the arranged Beethoven compositions to be really good in this video (considering the Beethoven vid didn't catch mine or my sons attention). We both enjoyed the poetry in this video, and I'm not a real big fan of poetry for various reasons, my only complaint about those sections is that they're really quiet even with the dialogue enhanced on our system. All these parents who seem to believe, however, that the classical poetry/artwork/compositions that go along with these videos are too advanced for their children forget that to maintain a child's interest in learning you have to expose them from an early age to classical medias that challenge them. My child responds greatly to composers like Mozart and Beethoven, artwork by Bottecelli and Van Gogh because he was exposed very early on to classical works and at this point he's only 6 mos 3 wks. Back to the video: Great, I highly recommend it!

18 month old daughter loves it 2006-11-10
It's a wonderful addition to the Baby Einstein line. The only problem I had for about a month. Was the part about the moon and going to sleep. My daughter thought that she had to go to sleep as well. And whenever that part of the movie came up it made her cry...but as she got older it got better

Too easy for 2-year-olds 2006-08-10
This video, like most Baby Einstein products, is excellent, but was too basic for my 2-year-old granddaughter; she totally ignored it.

I wish the videos were clearly labeled with the age of their intended audiences.
