Good pre teen magazine 2008-05-10
This magazine is definitely a keeper. It teaches kids to cope with their age problems in a great way, telling real life stories. Has all the fun activities and fashion and care tips as well. Both my 8 year old and the 11 year old daughters love it.

not appropriate for 8-10 year olds 2008-04-29
I don't think that the age range is correct for this magazine. What 8 year old is concerned about boyfriends and popularity issues? Furthermore, it is shocking that so many "girl" magazines focus on nothing but fashion, boys and looking sexy. Some of the girls photographed in this magazine are being made up to look like women already.

Why does our society have to keep pushing girls to grow up so fast. They have the rest of their life to worry about boys! The sheer innocence of childhood should be deeply valued by society not rejected. However, the magazines have to make money, don't they? Yes, and they keep making money by indoctrinating girls into thinking that being sexy and catching guys are the most important things in life. It's too bad that parents keep buying these trashy magazines thereby perpetuating the cycle.

Age subjects topics not interesting 2008-04-11
Somewhat disappointed, this magazine is for 8 and up and my 7 1/2 yr old is not that interested in the topics covered.

If you want your 8yr old to be concerned with her looks and shallow, this magazine is for you! 2008-02-18
I am shocked at all the good reviews here. Don't get me wrong, this magazine is cute for girls ages 12 and older but EIGHT??? The problem with our society is that kids are being pushed into growing up WAY too quickly while they are still too imature. If your 8yr old is learning about how to talk to boys, what glitter to wear, how to maintain a BFF friendship - then what will they be reading at 13? My bet is Cosmo. Slow down everyone. 8yr old girls should be playing on a swingset, playing barbies, pretend school, etc... If they are already bored of these things, my guess is that you pushed Barbies on your daughter when she was 3 which is your own fault. Parents need to remember that the younger these girls turn into "tweens" the younger they will be teens and we all know what we did when we were teens. Give your 8yr old magazines like ASK, MUSE etc... Let them work their minds, not teach them to be shallow superficial girls.

Great Gift! Granddaughter loves it! 2007-12-18
I bought a subscription for my 9 year old granddaughter for Christmas of 2006. Rest assured that this magazine is not fluff! My husband (a psychologist) and I (a businesswoman-entrepreneur) read many of the articles and were amazed at the quality of information and guidance given. My granddaughter's only complaint is that it does not come every month.

I still love it! 2007-05-22
When I was 12 or so, I was shopping in walmart with my dad, I told him I was going to look in the magazine section, and he let me, While I searched through a magazine I wanted, I saw a Cool magazine, and It was called Discovery girls, I smiled and we bought it, later that year, I bought TONS of back issues, and kept them in a place where I knew they wouldn't be lost, so now that brings me to now, I'm 14, and I still buy the magazine, just for the fun of it, and I still love reading it! It gives awesome advice for girls, and It's Fun to read!

So Buy this magazine, You'll LOVE IT! =]
