Editorial Review
Driveway Patrol Security Alarm System is an infrared sensor that alerts you when someone crosses its path. When placed across the driveway or on your porch, a pleasant chime will sound alerting you that someone has come onto your property. Driveway Patrols amazing wireless technology provides easy mobility. Simply place the sensor by the front door, garage, mailbox, or anywhere else near your home and the unit will send a signal to its receiver (up to 400 feet away)! With Driveway Patrols motion sensor activation, you will always know when someone is coming up to your house before they ring the doorbell! Driveway Patrol Security Alarm System is weather resistant, installs easily with only a screwdriver, and only needs one 9 V and 3 "C" batteries, not included.

Good for many uses... 2008-05-17
Not only alerts you when visitors arive, but they are also great for keeping the kid from sneaking out at night. They do go a little haywire in direct sunlight though. Keep them in the shade.

Drive way sensor used for mailbos 2008-04-27
Bought for a friend, Have one my self, use it in my mail box to let me know when the mail has arrived, Works great. CJF

Good product but needs refinement 2008-04-15
I bought four of these for various reasons. One was to warn me of bosses sneaking up on me at work but I was moved to another building. So far I only used one in my driveway. It sounds a LOUD alert for movement and for direct sunlight. I'm working on the sun problem by experimenting with tape and the sound can be solved by various means. Both parts could be much, much smaller and the sensor should have a sun shield. Since I wasn't interested when my neighbor came and went I lowered on my mailbox post. Other than that it works great! Another possible use could be to wake the dead because the alarm is certainly loud enough! I can hear it out on the street fifty feet away!

Works, with some modificafion... 2008-03-15
This thing drove me nuts at first but I finally got it to work correctly. If you don't put a shade over it, even the clouds passing overhead will set it off. I had to tape down the sensor only leaving a 1/4" opening and put it inside of a box so the sun didn't hit it. If you put it anywhere it gets hit by sunlight (even indirectly) it will gop off constantly. After the tweaking, it is woth the price, but be prepared to spend some time getting it to work right.

driveway alarm 2008-02-15
Works great in cold weather, some false alarms in warmer weather with direct sunlight and shadows.I am going to put it into a birdhouse, hopefully this will solve the problem.

Hunk of Junk 2008-07-18
Unit is pretty much junk. I guess you get what you pay for. Unit often fails to detect large people within 6 feet of sensor. Many failures of receiver at 12 feet on other side of wood and stucco wall with windows. If you want reliable detection of intruders, this is not the unit. Save your time and money and find something better.

FALSE ALARMS 2008-07-12
It works perfect at night. But during the day I have to shut the item off. It sends so many false alarms its annoying. Birds, leaves, limbs, cars on passing street, I mean everything sets this thing off during the day. But if you are concern mostly about dusk-dawn time. Then its a great investment.

Poor product - Ordered 2 and both failed 2008-06-11
Both base units failed and just had loud continuous beep after being powered on. I drove a mile or two away from my house to see if it might be getting crossed signals from something else. I would have been happy if one base unit had worked, to serve both sensors.

They were 12 bucks a piece, so all the time and trouble to send them back would be more of and expense than just eating it.

Drive patrol and Cat detector 2008-06-05
This unit works great! It's installed at the end of my driveway (75' away) and my receiver is in the basement stairs with door shut and it still works! On the low volume setting it was still too loud, so I put a piece of duck tape over the speaker and put in basement stairwell with door shut and I can still hear it fine. Now the not so good news, it does go off when the neighbors cat goes by it (which is usually in the middle of the night) and I now know that the deer cross my front yard at 5 a.m. every morning! Other than that, I would recommend this product!

Driveway Sensor Teaches Others That Crime Does NOT Pay!! 2008-05-17
I originally bought this device out of frustration of apathetic police. Our car, parked on the street, was vandalized by a huge cement brick thrown through the window. The cops acted like, "Sorry. It's too bad. We can't figure out who did it." So, I decided that I was going to play my own detective work, and catch the hoodlums on my city property. I bought this device out of frustration and anger about being a victim. It has been the best purchase I have ever made. It does have a few quirks, but by mounting it high, and only turning it on when you need the monitoring, it works extremely well. It is loud enough to be heard throughout the house. We mounted it under a bird house on a pole. I was scared that it would be seen, and ripped off, but it was not.

Less than TWO WEEKS later, around 7:30 AM, I heard the alarm go off. I was on the other end of the house. I ran to my son's bedroom window, which is directly in front of the house, and peeked out. I saw an older teen boy in front of my daughter's window. He had frozen, must have heard the sensor, too.

Well, I wanted to catch him in the act of whatever he was going to do (I thought he wanted to steal from us), so, I ran to the front door. There is a side window where I can spy on people directly in front of my house, without the people knowing. Anyway, I thought he was going to break in the window. Then, I saw him slowly put his hands up on the window sill, and look into my daughter's bedroom (daughter, age 16) to watch her. That was when I realized that I had a Peeping Tom.

I was ENRAGED! I came flying out of the house, yelled at him. He started running. I called the police. Since it was a Peeping Tom offense, they did a thorough investigation, with every legal person imaginable in my yard. They never caught the guy.

In return, when I figured out what was "attracting" crime on that side of the house, we purchased better curtains, cut down all of the shrubs on that side, and left up the driveway sensor. In return, I got a reputation for being a tough neighbor, and have not had a house problem in over 2 years. Any quirks this product has are well worth the rewards that it brings.
