Okay, but minimum 59 inches?
2008-01-07
These seem okay. There was some minor damage on the plastic of one of them when I got it. Is 59 inches the standard height of the bottom of cabinets? I incorrectly made the assumption that these would be the perfect size. My kitchen has an 8 ft ceiling and I was just replacing the old cabinets, so I wanted to hang them at the same height. They seem like normal cabinet height, but the jacks are too long.
Very helpful tool

I was in need of some help applying sheet rock in my garage. Using the "third hand" along with a 2 x 4 T-square I was able to install 4 x 8 sheets with one other person and myself. The hand grip clamp extension was very useful.

I purchased four of these for crown molding. I just finished the crown molding in the third bedroom tonight. These are great. I wouldn't have been able to do this alone. I highly recommed these.

I am a finish carpenter who does not work well with others. Before I ordered the 3rd hand product I always had to pay someone to help me hang crown mold. The 3rd hand set of 4 cost about the same as I would have to pay someone to help me 1 day.The product actually holds crown mold right where you want it to. It is excellent for making splices on long walls and with special order millwork where you often get short lengths.I ordered this this spring after looking at it at amazon for years. You combine this with a walkboard or 2 and the results are amazing. It takes a little practice but the end results are worth it. I always thought that it probably would not work as well as it says but I was wrong. I should have ordered it the first time I saw it.
great help for crown moulding

I bought these so I'd be able to install crown moulding in my house by myself. They worked great -- easier than I expected.
One Fine Product

When these supports arrived, I checked the package and everything was intact. The project they were purchased for was to push exterior drywall back to the ceiling rafters. The nails that was used to hold the drywall was releasing. The ceiling I was working on was 8 x 28 ft. I started at one end and jacked the drywall back to the rafters. I used drywall screws to secure the ceiling. I think the FastCap 3rd Hand Support System is well worth the money. The units I received clams it is rated at 150 pounds. I am not sure it is capable of this weight. There were no instruction inside the box, the only instruction is what is on the side of the box.
great tool

I am finding more uses for this everyday. IOt's like having two helpers only better. The only con is the pole length adjustment is hard to use. I am going to get a set of shorter ones also.
Flimsy

I bought a pair for a recent home, crown molding project. The first board went great but then the misadventures began. Both supports eventually fell over a few times (not hard) and that caused both to jamb--meaning no up or down motion. I called the FastCap folks (GREAT people by the way--amazing service) and they sent me replacement parts. That only worked so-so...items still jamb up.
When they work, they work great. My experience is that they are way too flimsy because fall overs happen--especially when you are by yourself up on a ladder!

These things are wonderful. They don't complain or tell you how to do it better. Don't take cigarette breaks, always on time, take up little space, hold the drywall in place as long as you want. Tried a much cheaper copy from Harbor Freight and they slipped when tightened(OK to hold plastic dust barrier, that's about all).
Get at least two of these you won't regret it.
Only because "6 Stars" is not an option...

I can't say enough good things about these. I've used them for multiple applications, and they've paid for themselves in the amount of labor and aggravation they've saved me.
- Holding up crown molding
- load bar in the bed of the truck
- bracing a cabinet flush to the wall
- applying pressure to a vertical section of beadboard glued to its substrate
- Holding up the pieces of a disassembled swingset so I can drop the tailgate of the truck without breaking my back
One cautionary bit of advice: When bracing cabinets, watch out that they don't fall over sideways and damage any nearby appliances of countertops. I had a close call once.
