TeleZapper is a small device that attaches directly to a consumer's telephone line to reduce the number of computer-dialed telemarketing calls. The TeleZapper is also battery powered and boasts a sleeker, trimmer design. It now serves as the connecting piece between the phone and phone jack and comes equipped with a battery that has a seven-year life, which eliminates the need for an AC adaptor and frees up an extra electrical outlet in your home. It can also be programmed to emit from one (Basic Privacy) to three tones (Advanced Privacy), providing added protection against unwanted calls.The TeleZapper is ideal for protecting home businesses and new homeowners. New phone numbers typically are the first numbers to make it onto telemarketing lists. The TeleZapper is easy to install. Just plug it into your phone and phone jack to cover all extensions and answering machines connected to that line. It works with answering machines to "Zap" telemarketers when you're not around to answer the phone. first of all, after all the telemarketing calls i was receiving, i was desperate. unfortunately i was also stupid, because i ordered this product. i persisted, even after my online invoice indicated that the shipping cost would be identical to the purchase cost ... both C$30. when the thing arrived and it weighed about 200g, i was furious. you can ship hardcover BOOKS for less than that! next problem: the product doesn't work. not. at. all. i will exceed my max allowed wordcount if i go into details, so suffice it to say that when i called the manufacturer for support, and was told they hadn't made the product since 2001, i knew i had been ripped off. amazon has them in its warehouses & needs to unload them. don't be suckered like i was. and wish me luck as i try to get a full refund.

Works as advertised. But watch out for dead battery.

I installed the Telezapper TZ 900 about 2 weeks ago, and the telemarketer calls have pretty much ceased. I used to get 4-5 calls every evening. Now, I might get one every 3 days, and I don't think it is a computer generated call. I have the Telezapper set to advanced mode (3 tone disconnect signal). The reason I gave the unit 4 stars is because the unit was delivered with a dead battery. Please be aware of this. When it is connected to your phone line, you should hear the disconnect tone when you pick up your phone. If you don't hear the tone, then the battery is dead. The battery was easily available at my local Longs drugstore. I suspect that many of the reviewers who claim that the device flat-out doesn't work had units shipped with dead batteries.

Did NOT make a difference at all. I can't even tell if the darn thing is working. Total waste of money. (Yes, I followed the directions and checked the reviews here...)

WORKS LIKE A CHARM!

I purchased this item and it really works. For all computer generated calls it works like a charm. All other callers were put on a no call list. I have had very good luck with this item.
Installation if really easy too. It seems to be working fine on a digital phone.

Does not stop telemarketers----can't tell any difference in the amount of messages on my answering machine. Had to buy battery when it first arrived because the one that came with the unit was dead. Do not buy this product !!!!!!

Had one before and liked it

Had one few years ago, worked well, then died. This one doesn't work at all, but haven't had time
to replace battery and see if that's the problem - uses large flat watch-type battery. First one I had
was powered by outlet and always made fax tone when picking up a call. This one does nothing yet.

This thing works! Since I installed TeleZapper, I never get those annoying phone calls. Oh, I still get them from the non-profit groups, but even they have decreased. It's simply amazing.

Telezapper is Garbage

Unfortunately, what might have been a good idea in theory has, in fact, become a useless piece of junk. TeleZapper does not work. Telemarketers simply responded by stepping up their technology to outsmart the TeleZapper. The money I spent was a total waste unless, of course, one considers the value of my having hearned a lesson. Calls continue, voice mail accumulate, my number is scheduled to be changed and unlisted.
