Customer Reviews
A wonderful antenna!
2008-06-25
The antenna is very easy to install. It comes with a U/V combiner that is helpful with old models. The pictures are quite clear with rare snows. It works well with the converter box. Moreover, the price is very reasonable. A good investment!
Terk TV-1 Surprisingly Good
2008-06-01
I live in a difficult reception area nestled among hills in Oakland, CA. This area has proved difficult for Cell, FM radio, and especially HDTV because a reflected signal is the best we can get. I purchased the Terk TV-1 based on other user reviews. Since it looks much like antennas that are supplied with standard TVs, my expectations were hopeful but not high for use on my Olevia 27inch HDTV. Much to my surprise, this antenna out-performed all the others I've tried, including the much more expensive Philips High Performance Amplified Indoor Uhf/Vhf/Fm/HDTV Antenna for my application. The Terk TV-1 is not perfect, since I still get recurring 'no signal available' messages appearing briefly on a black screen during certain times and conditions. But I often get perfect reception for hours on end, and on most available stations.
This is the 4th antenna I have tried, including a Channel Master 4221 that I mounted on a mast that could be rotated and raised or lowered. But my location just wouldn't allow an antenna orientation that worked. I also tried an RCA indoor with lots of knobs and rotating items, but it was among the worst for my application.
So I'm sticking with my Terk TV-1. Not perfect, but gets the job done.
Sometimes simple is best

I bought one of these for a little used old style TV and it worked well. When I got a new Sony Bravia HD TV I did not think it would do much but I was very surprised to find that it got 28 non-HD TV stations and about 42 HD TV stations. Most of them with first-rate pictures! I live about 8 miles for a mountain hilltop where the TV stations broadcast from so maybe that is why it works so well. But for the price it seems perfect.
I set the Terk up on top of my rather high refrigerator and ran some 300 Ohm coxial cable to the kitchen TV so you can't see it! I ordered 4 more to put them on other TVs.
Don't let the low price fool you, this is HIGH QUALITY for Little $

If you want to receive free digital local channels for your new high end flat screen, you don't need a $200 antenna. This $9.99 one does the trick and does it well.
Gets about 30 digital channels free. A co-worker also bought a new tv, but he went the extra mile and bought a $50 fancy antenna, took him hours to setup only to find out it doesn't work well. This one took a total of 30 seconds to setup, pull out of box, stick in cable, done. HD Digital TV is ready for your enjoyment absolutely free.
At the bargain price of $9.99, do not pass up this great deal.
Pretty good

This antenna is good, but not outstanding. I just needed something to get some channels and it did the trick.
No contest

After trying several more complicated, more expensive antennas with my DTV box, this product produced the best picture and, relatively speaking, occupied less space and did not need to be plugged in. It is no substitute for cable or satellite, but works beautifully with the new boxes. We now receive more channels than before and my wife, something of a PBS addict, is absolutely delighted with the fact that we get 4 PBS channels. We returned two more expensive Terk and an RCA model.
Good value. Recommended.

Seems to work fine. Increased my free off the air channels from 1 to 6. The antenna is sensitive and the picture is clear. Recommended!
If you like getting up everytime you change the channel.
2008-07-09
I purchased this antenna thinking it would be just what I needed for a spare room portable TV. Seems to be well built and when adjusted properly the channel you are watching comes in great. The problem is everytime you change the channel you have to adjust the antenna for that channel. You quickly relise how often you change the channel when watching TV. Thank god it's on a TV that is used the least!
Doesn't Combine UHF and VHF
2008-07-09
When I purchased this product I thought the UHF loop would connect somewhere on the "rabbit ear" base and be combined into one signal. I was apparently wrong. I was surprised to open the box and see that I needed to have UHF terminals on my TV to connect the loop antenna. I wasn't too impressed. I'll be returning the product for one that actually combines the UHF and VHF signals as most of the broadcast spectrum used in my area is in the UHF range.
It does not work!

I read excellent review of this product and bought it. I have a Sony HDTV KDL26M4000 with in built HDTV tuner. First of all, the installation instruction is sketchy and confusing! There is no option on my HDTV of connecting VHF and UHF separately. The instructions that accompanied the product did not show with any helpful diagram how to connect. Also the product came with a loop (which I guess is the UHF loop). The installation intructions do not carry any information about how and where to attach it. None of the reviewer has mentioned anything about this either. With auto programming options, I could get only 3 channels coming clearly. I live in an open area without ant big tree or building and I tried with placing the antenna on my window shield! Can anybody help please?
