stylish, stunning, very reliable 2003-09-13
I had a canon s520 but i sold it because it went bad and I needed to replace the head which costed more than the printer. I'm glad i got the photosmart 7150. its so much better. the prints come out soo good on 4x6 using the photo tank. also i found out hp ink tanks come with heads on them so you'll get a good printing everytime. the ink tanks might cost a bit more but if you put your quality in the settings to like "draft" or "everyday" printing then you'll save a lot of money. go buy this!! its very affordable too.

good, but not exellent 2003-07-23
I bought HP 7150 a week ago, and so far it's been running well. I saw severl reviews on the paper feeding problem of this printer, but so far it's not with me. As to the photo quality, I should say, it performs very good in colors and resolutions, but not in color shades. So if you want sth not that expansive for your ordinary photo printing, you can check this model out. One big thing I don't like about it (although I have prepared well for this problem) is that it's extremely ink consuming! Everybody has told me about it, but I was still surprised at the quick decreasing ink level (shown in the software) when printing photos!

Won't print Landscape 2003-07-22
I also will be returning this printer. My frustration was trying to print a document in landscape mode. Whether I chose Landscape or Portrait, it printed the same way. Very frustrating.

Good Quality Prints 2003-06-14
I bought this printer a little over a month ago and so far it has not given me any problems. I was surprised at the quality of prints that the HP 7150 can produce. I'm happy to say the prints came out to be the same or even better than lab produced prints (to my experience with lab produced prints).

However, the HP 7150 sometimes have problems with feeding paper, especially through the 4x6 tray and can ruin your photo paper. With certain types of papers, such as Avery's photo papers, the Hp 7150 can leave visible marks on the papers. These marks are from the HP printer taking the paper when printing. The best photo paper is probably the HP Premium Plus photo paper which can last up to 75 yrs and won't have marks as mentioned above. With some photo paper, the longevity is around 2 to 30 years on a rough estimate.

As the other reviewers have mentioned, the HP printer is a noisy one, but with the quality prints that the printer can produce, the noise is not a factor to me.

One significant let down on this printer is that it can not print borderless 4x6 pictures no matter how you set it up. The maximum print area for 4x6 prints is up to 5.5". I was able to print borderless 5x7 prints using a different software from the one that came with the printer.

I have not had experience with any other photo printers, I am happy this printer. This is a quality product despite some of its imperfections, but again, many products have their positive and negative sides.

Surprised 2003-04-04
After purchasing a new 5MP digicam, I was in the market for a nice photo printer to complement it. I researched all different types of printers, including laser, dye-sub, and inkjet. You can pretty much pay whatever you like for a printer.

Leaning toward the dye-sub printers (and a good chunk of dough), decided in the end to just get a "cheapo" inkjet photo printer, and decided on the 7150 (it was the same price as the 5550).

Well, I was very pleasantly surprised. This thing outputs very nice photos! Much better than I was expecting.

I had no trouble at all hooking it to my XP systems, and printing on both 8x10 sheets, as well as 4x6 sheets.

I only use it to print photos with, so can't comment on the text output of this printer.

Great product!

Excellent printer, unless you're running VISTA 2007-03-29
I have used this printer with a Presario XP computer. It has been flawless in photo printing, graphic output, and is a draft mode workhorse. I give it five stars for: durability, performance, and quality.

Now you should know: HP will NOT provide a VISTA printer driver. That means you CANNOT use this printer in VISTA. I have spent over one week attempting to use various HP print drivers to no avail. I have contacted HP. Their response: HP will not support this printer in VISTA - buy a new printer.

I'm taking their advice. I'm buying an EPSON.

I used to love this printer... 2007-02-03
...until I discovered it doesn't work with Vista.

Since every other printer I have (Samsung, Sony, Epson, Kodak) works fine in Vista (I'm in the photo biz and have a lot of printers!), I can only conclude that HP is doing something "nonstandard" in its driver and if it followed the rules for writing a printer driver it would have worked.

If you think you may run Vista, do NOT buy this printer.

HP's support web site gave me the run-around....it referred me to a page that did not include information for this device.

When it's dead, it's dead for good. 2005-06-07
It is an OK printer while it is working. But when all three control lights start blinking (without any reasonable introduction), you should pretty much give up all your trouble shooting efforts. The "Help" section is worthless, just as the "Basics Guide" booklet. The bubble from the utility bar keeps referring to a craddle blockage that is simply not there...Would you wanna waste hours on the phone to get to technical assistance? The only reason I even remotely consider buying another HP printer, because now I am stuck with all the refill cartridges...

HP 7150 2004-07-12
My HP 7150 prints nice photographs. The quality is very good, but I have had a lot of difficulty getting 4x6 sizes of paper to feed properly.

Also, business letters are important to me and I can't get envelopes to feed properly.

It has been frustrating not having availability of free customer service.

I will probably replace this unit with an Epson in the near future.

I reviewed this product on October 19th, last year. It has been six months now, and the printer is still operating flawlessly. It feeds well, prints great color pictures, and I am completely pleased with it.

If only HP would make one a little faster, with the same quality.
