Ladybug Magazine

I ordered a gift subscription for my 6 year old niece, and she just loves this magazine. She reads it every night before bed and is always anxious for the next issue to arrive.
unbelievable

I ordered Ladybug for my niece's children back in mid-October and expected a 6-8 weeks lag time for the order to arrive. Can you believe, today is April 1st and the first magazine has just arrived. So much for Happy Chanukah! I think that's just unexcusable.
At least the children like the magazine.
Great magazine! Bad way to order it!

I love this magazine. My older daughter got it for years, then we let our subscription lapse. My son is old enough now to enjoy the poems, stories and activities, and resubscribing through Amazon seemed so easy. But four months later, we still haven't received our first issue! So if you are eager to get a copy, I would go straight to the publisher!
Charming - great keepsakes

My daughter loves this magazine. The illustrations and stories are absolutely charming. I love that it gets kids interested in outdoor activities like gardening. It helps me keep us away from the TV and out of the mall a little bit more.
Excellent magazine for young children!

As with other publications by the Cricket Magazine group, Ladybug is an excellent source of stories, pictures, and poems for young children. Although the recommended age group is stated as between 2-6, I find my [...]is not as keen on reading this magazine with me, and prefers Babybug which I still subscribe to. I think she's getting there, but it might suit kids ages 3-6 better as the texts are longer, and the sentence constructions are more complex. I would still recommend it though for each issue comes with wonderful illustrations & great stories/poetry. The best part is the absence of in-your-face advertising! A wonderful publication that will encourage the love of reading in young children.
good magazine, not sure if its for a little older...

Ladybug opens the door to reading for kids ages 2 - 6. Every page of Ladybug is beautiful, colorful, and a delight to read. Each issue is filled with charming characters, activities, songs, poems, and stories.
My niece loves this magazine!

She loves this mag! The stories are quite good, as well as the illustrations. She often goes back to prior issues, so I can tell she is holding onto most all of them. All in all, I have to say that getting her a subscription was a success in encouraging her to read.
Great Magazine but Be Aware!

I LOVE this magazine, and more importantly my four year old daughter LOVES this magazine. I agree with all the other rave reviews on this page.
I do want other parents to be aware of one thing, though. This company sold my daughter's name and address to other companies and we have begun to receive inappropriate consumer catalogs addressed to her. Because no other company has her address, I called the customer service number on the back of Ladybug and spoke to a rep there. Her supervisor called back the next day - very professionally, and quite apologetic, and told me that yes, they did sell/give out my daughter's name and address. She then said she would remove my daughter's name from the list that they share/sell. I appreciated the call and the admission, however, I thought other parents might want to be aware of this.
On the short list of the best in it's class

There are a number of magazines available for young children, but very few approach the quality of Ladybug. This monthly literary magazine for very young children aged 2-6 weighs in at about 35 pages and includes no advertising whatsoever.
Inside the typical issue you find poems, songs, short stories, a cut-out activity and other educational devices. The pages are all glossy color that include drawings of the subject at hand, often involving animals or the types of characters you might expect to find in a nursery rhyme or fable. The cut-out activity might involve constructing a scene or the pieces to simple board game.
Ladybug would be an excellent choice for most any young child whether they already enjoy reading or to help encourage them to do so. I also suggest you take a look at Zootles, a similarly high quality magazine where animals are the main theme for children in the same age group appropriate for Ladybug.
We love it!!

Ladybug magazine is fabulous. After subscribing for a few years, my girls in first grade are beginning to read it themselves. Their 10-year-old brother reads to them as well. They know all the regular features, and dance around when it arrives in the mail.
