It is very difficult to find magazines that teach a Creation view. This is an excellently done magazine. My kids love it! Ages 3-12
Nature Friend Magazine - Great Zine for Christian Kids
2005-10-12
I really like this magazine. I just received our first copy yesterday and am looking forward to future issues. This magazine was recommended to me through my Catholic homeschool curriculum provider as a supplement to the science lessons. What I really appreciate about it is that there are no advertisements included in it. I find it interesting to note that the readers of this 'zine seem to be as young as 7 or 8 and go up to age 14 or so. So, I know that I can use it with my sons for many years to come.
My daughter loves this magazine!

Nature Friend is an incredible magazine! It is difficult for fundamental Christians to find periodical materials for children that uphold our beliefs. Nature Friend does just that. It is a Creationist magazine with plenty of scientific information about nature, written for a child's level of understanding. My daughter especially loves all the input from children her age, such as letters to the editor, drawings that children have submitted, and articles and poems written by children. There are plenty of activities in each issue as well. Both my daughter and I love the "how to draw ____" page!
I like it and my kids like it.

The magazine has improved over the years, now with color photos and a more convenient smaller format.
Yes, it is creationist and anti-evolutionary.
There is a hidden pictures page (not as involved as in Highlights), a drawing lesson with last month's drawing submissions from kids (many different age groups represented), a nature story (usually with character lessons as well), and other features.
It's a nice, peaceful, safe, and instructional nature magazine for kids (and some teens) that also promotes good character qualities and honors God as having created everything and everyone with wisdom and love.
Yay, non-evolutionary publication!

It is great to have something un-philosophical for kids to read. Magazine shows, in simple manner, wonders of Gods creation (unlike most other literature which designed to dull children's minds with evolutionary fantasy).
Love this Magazine

My kids love Nature Friend Magazine. It has came along way since when I Mother use to get it. It is now full of great pictures and fun things for the kids to do. These are more for the older child, 7 on up I would imagine but my 4 year old loves looking at the pictures. I am continuously fishing them out from underneath his bed. The stories target animals that are found in the US so a child can relate more with this, I think this is why my husband and children find it so fascinating. As soon as we receive an issue, he sits down with the kids and reads it from cover to cover. They are very kid friendly meaning they welcome kids ideas, stories, and opinions and will publish them. I guess this would make it a readers magazine. We love the magazine and I believe it would make a great addition to any home.
Science & Family Friendly!

This magazine is wonderfully family friendly! Geared toward younger
children with a curiosity toward things natural. My older tween children
also enjoy the beautiful, first class photography.
I saw some reviews in this space that seemed to think that if one believes that God created the world that this belief precludes a love for science. This is simply not the case. Our family is very science centered with grandparents retired from NASA and Nature Friend is a friend to the genuine lover of science.
A wonderful magazine that is of the highest quality and standard scientifically as well as artistically. We can't say enough positive about it!
Misleading

This should be labeled better on the cover and in descriptions! When I want my grandchildren to learn about God I'll take them to church and teach them by example. This is a religious magazine based on creationism and not on scientific knowledge or fact. I am Christian with an avid science interest. God gave us a brain to think and learn!!!
Absolutely Wonderful Magazine!

All 6 of my children love this magazine. The pages are thicker than the usual magazine. The pictures and articles, as well as the info on experiments that you can do with your children are wonderful. I cannot say enough about this magazine!
I do not have to pre-read it before I give it to my children. It is very well written and points you to God as the one who created our world. As the magazine is titled "Nature Friend~Helping Children Explore The Wonders of God's Creation".
We have used, in years past, Big Back Yard and Ranger Rick but Nature Friend far exceeds them in quality and because it points you to God. You won't have your 8 year old reading it and then coming to you saying "Mom, we know that the dinosaurs didn't live millions of years ago..."
