Cutting edge sound from KOSS!!!
2008-04-18
KOSS KTXPRO1 Titanium-
I put personal stereo gear to the test, constantly at work (mowing hundreds of acres of lawns). I've got an "audiophile" ear so, just because I'm mowin' doesn't mean I'm careless about quality or fidelity!!
SOUND QUALITY:
Flat frequency response!
-Good low end, flat-not "boomey".
-Midrange clarity- not overly detailed,
-Defined highs-clear not "edgy".
CONSTRUCTION:
Durable, comfortable headband,
Easy to clean,
Replacement ear pads easily available.
Superior buy for a mere $18.00. Rivals headsets costing much more!
-Wish all other audio gear was this good!
Buy it from AMAZON-How can you go wrong???
Audiophile quality

I recommend these fantastic, lightweight comfortable headphones to anybody. I have 4 pairs of them which my wife and I use on portable players, my stereo and my computer. Their sound is close to the quality of the bulky audiophile AKG K240 Studio monitor headphones that I own and are a lot more comfortable.
Best $20 I ever spent

Four years ago I bought a set of Radio Shack Pro 35 (Koss KTXPRO1)headphones which I used almost every day for the last four years until the frame finally broke. For the life of me I don't see how Koss can design, and manufacture headphones and still achieve a profit, that sound so good for such a small amount of $. If Andrea Bocelli singing Tosca brings tears to your eyes on your surround sound system with your powered sub, so will listening to the same CD with these $20 KTXPRO1s. Audio is skewed towards the lower end so anything below mid-range is deep and rich sounding. Mid and high range are there and sound good, but if your idea of a decent pair of headphones is a $500 set of phones with a 300 hour breakin period driven by a Woo tube amp, then you'll miss the clarity of crystal clear highs and mid range.
As I write this I'm listening to Teardrop and Black Milk by Massive Attack on one of the three KTXPRO1s I bought after my original Radio Shack version gave up the ghost. Impressive.
Same drivers as the Porta-Pros, but...

..ugly as home-made sin. There is also big annoying volume control hanging in the cord that the Sporta/ Porta-Pros don't have. But...for the price I guess those issues can be overlooked.
They speaker/ driver elements are the same ones used in the renowned Porta-Pro phones that cost much more. The sound is (very) slightly different do to the cups and a little filter that rests behind the drivers, but they are very close in sound...so close I doubt most people would notice the difference.
They are highly sensitive (for open air type phones), have great bass response, and general all around full rich, great sound that's comparable to a lot of high-end phones costing many times more. I find them more pleasant, fuller, and more responive than both the Sennheiser PX100 and PX200 phones... yes really
If you're on a budget, or don't care about the over sized goofy looks, or big (bigger than some small mp3 players) dangling volume control, these are the phones for you.
At this price range you simply can't get any better sounding headphones than these.
Great sounding phones

These phones are fabulous! Everyone who has tried them likes them. I won't use anything else but the Titanium type phones because of the sound clarity, quality and range. No they are not noise-canceling but I never really felt I needed them with these. You can turn them up to a comfortable and safe level where you are the only one enjoying the tunes, and those nearby you cannot hear them even though they are "open-air" style phones. It's rather nice to be able to hear notes and sounds that drop into the 30's and such with these. Cheap phones that come with the walkmans don't come close!

New advances in materials and design have served to expand the performance of Koss products. The company's product development team and engineers look for the most innovative combinations of existing and new technologies to deliver the most exciting products possible.A portable headphone is a headphone that is used on-the-go. Portable headphones tend to be smaller, more lightweight, and may have features that lend themselves to listening on-the-go, like carrying cases or collapsible headbands.Koss KTX PRO1 features a titanium-layered diaphragm for accurate sound reproduction, foam ear cushions for an open, hear-through sound and an adjustable headband with a sling for a comfortable and secure fit.
you get more than what you have paid for

I have been very picky in headphones because I usually listen to music from high-end speakers. This is one of the best headphones that I have ever had. You get more from the money that you put.
Sound is good but comfort is so-so

This product has the best reviews on Amazon of any headphones with volume control. I'm happy with the sound quality and the volume control is great (although a wheel control would have been better than a slider). My main problem is that the foam pads on the ear pieces are too thin. Also, the ear pieces are connected to the head piece at an odd angle which I think makes them more uncomfortable. I can wear the headphones no more than an hour at a time. I can't see why they put the rubber strap on the head piece (maybe for joggers). It was uncomfortable so I cut it off.

Excellent tone. I purchased these to use with my WHITES DFX metal detector. The smaller ear cups will be more comfortable on hot days. They also have a tone adjustment which is a must when using with a metal detector.
Fabulous

I love these headphones, lightweight comfortable and sound great. The base is superb. The highs are crisp. Better than headphones I have spent $80 for.
Everyone that I let use these, end up buying a pair. These are under priced for the sound quality. RadioShack sells these same ones for $40. Good deal go for it you won't go wrong!
