What I Think About Birds & Blooms 2004-09-07
I've been subscribing for a long time, and, because of my love of birds, flowers, and butterflies (yes, the magazine does talk a bit of butterflies), I've gotten quite into it, too. I like the mixture: Funny stories, garden and bird tips and how-to's,and MUCH more...
I love it! I know most people who read it are parents, or grandparents, but I still love it.<@..@>

Pretty pictures but lightweight information 2003-08-22
You'll love the bright glossy photos of N. American garden birds and plants (I do) but don't expect to find in-depth birding or gardening information in Birds and Blooms. Like all of the magazines from Reiman Publications, it targets the down-home and down-to-earth crowd and lacks conspicuous advertising (except for other Reiman products or tours, and the goods in its "country store"). For those who wish to indulge their interest in their gardens' creatures, but not get very in-depth, it is a relaxing magazine as it doesn't require a higher reading level or familiarity with species' scientific names. But if you want advanced information or advice on gardening or birding, you should look to other periodicals. I find this to be a great gift for loved ones who, because of age or physical condition, are not able to be as active in the garden as they once were. The colorful photos (many are stock, some are sent in by readers) make it an enjoyable magazine for all ages.

Fun for the Backyard Birder or Gardener! 2003-03-02
Birds and Blooms is a bi-monthly magazine (6 issues per year) for backyard birders and gardeners. It has a standard 8x10 1/2 inch format. Each issue has about 65 pages. For birders, there are articles on species of birds that you might find in your back yard, what to feed birds, how to house them, simple projects you can make for the birds in your yard, a question and answer column, and lots of pictures. For gardeners, there are articles on what plants to get, how to care for them, gardening projects, and ideas for landscaping. (Birds and Blooms addresses decorative gardening, not vegetable gardening.) And there are lots of big colorful pictures of both plants and birds. I am more of a bird-lover than a gardener myself. I especially like the "Bird Tales" feature in which readers recount funny and fascinating behavior that they have observed in their avian neighbors. That alone would be worth the price of the subscription to me. If you are into birdhouses or elaborate bird feeders, Birds and Blooms seems to always have some articles showcasing unusual birdhouses and feeders, as well as an annual competition for both. For those who like puzzles, there is a word find in every issue, as well as a find-the-hidden-acorn for which you can win prizes. There is no advertising in Birds and Blooms.

Fun and facts for those who like to watch or feed birds in their own yard (or apartment balcony) and for people who enjoy flower gardening!

great pictures 2003-02-18
I love this magazine for it's beautiful pictures. It has wonderful tips for attracting birds to your yard, what to feed them, how to repel the pest species, etc. The gardening pictures and information are fantastic too. There is a lot of input showcasing prizewinning flowers, backyard bird sightings, bird house building and other outdoor projects from the subscribers. I decided to have it delivered so my 4yr old and I could enjoy the pictures over and over.

Pleasure from both 2008-04-05

I had a two year subscription to B & B and plan to renew this year again. I love the pictures of the birds best but both are terrific and have a way of uplifting me. The one picture I remember most was one of a grandmother and a very small child watering flowers together. That's why I recomend Birds and Blooms.

Good Way to Relax 2007-05-04
I have been reading Birds and Bloom for over 8 years and I find it a delight to comb each page for descriptions of tranquil peace and simplicity. It is a way to focus your attention to something outside of your daily reality and it brings you down to earth and grabs your attention away from those superficial clouds that make up daily life. You know that you should stop and smell the roses once and a while, but while you are at it check out the whole garden and stay for a while. The rest of the world can wait. It doesnt matter if you are an expert gardener or bird watcher, the colorful photos and lively articles will draw the attention of beginers and captivate seasoned agriculturalists from Seattle to Vermont. Beauty is universal. Let the magazine speak for itself.

I love this magazine! 2007-02-14
Very colorful photos, informative articles written by subscribers and bird watching nuts like me! Tips on feeding birds, gardening, etc. Extremely informative magazine. Not a page of it wasted. There's as much info in the magazine on "birds" as there is on "blooms" so regardless of your interest, you'll enjoy the publication. I look forward to it every other (bimonthly publication) month and have gleaned a lot of tips on attracting, feeding and identifying birds as well as planting tips for flowers.

Re-discovered 2006-04-16
I was getting this magazine up untill 5 yrs ago when I started travel nursing. I settled down again with a new home and garden and hoped I would get a circular in the mail as I could not remember the name of the magazine, but it took the internet to find it. I loved it because it was about everyday people with the kind of stories, tips etc. that I could relate to. Not all huge mansions with acres and acres of land, and people, who like to get out and potter,to make mistakes (and learn from them) and to get out there and enjoy getting their hands dirty, plant seeds and flowers and enjoy the wonders of nature through the birds, insects and other creatures that come to a garden. I would read it from cover to cover and not feel cheated because I have had to pay for a magazine with 75% advertisments. Why should we pay to read adverts? Anyway so glad I have found it again and can't wait for my first issue to arrive. I do hope it has'nt changed.

A FUN birding and flower magazine 2006-02-10
I have been a subscriber to Birds & Blooms for over 2 years now. Each issue is loaded with beautiful photographs of different types of birds and a variety of colorful flowers. The magazine is supported heavily by contributions of its readership as many "personal" stories and pictures are published. Each issue typically has one article that focuses on a particular bird (cardinal, chickadee, etc), and then others that discuss butterflies, hummingbirds, flowers, etc. There are 6 issues per year, but they also have Birds & Blooms EXTRA to fill the off months (which I also subscribe to)! Great magazine to read and relax with!
