Dell Customer Service leaves a lot to be desired. 2005-12-28
I've been reading the reviews about Dell Customer Service on Amazon and other shopping web sites. I was relieved to see that I was not the only one that has expeirenced the difficulties dealing with Dell. They continue to show a lack of organization and because of that I'm now sure they spend a lot of time apologizing to their customers. Tech support is a hit or miss depending who you talk to, if you can understand what they are saying.

The real problem is the consumer continues to purchase Dell computers, therefore continuing to make Michael Dell richer. When customers take their business to other competitors and Dell's sales go down, then I believe they will improve their customer service and tech support.

If anyone from Dell reads this review, you should be concerned that so many of your cutomers are experiencing similar problems with Dell. The day may come that you won't make money in spite of yourself.

Pretty good 2005-10-23
My dad bought this with a dell laptop for a great deal of 80 dollars. After a year or two in a forgoten cabnet, I found the charger and hooked it up to the computer and put my camra's flash card inside. With 256 mb that is as much storage as an ipod shuffle!!! I listen to music all the time on my axim. Windows media 9 is an easy enough program to navigate. It took me a while to learn how to use everything, but it was well worth it. Why is it rated a 3 stars? My axim is locked up right now, and looking at pictures is never efficent. It takes at least 5 minutes to load the thumbnails and 3 minutes to load the actual picture. and when you do get to the picture, it sorta freases up. It is clear that the dell axim is not worth 250 dollars, unless you like collecting junky software.

amazing 2005-08-13
my life depends on this thing.

when i first bought it, i didnt have much use for it but i bought just because it seemed pretty cool and my cousin recommended it. now i carry it with my everywhere. i cant remember anything so this device is perfect for storing eveyrthing i'll ever need to remember. it syncs quickly and easily with my laptop and has 2 external ports for extra memory if you need it. all the buttons are easy to use. theres a voice recorder that works pretty well in lectures. it has a long battery life and has a backup battery for those times you forget to recharge, but if you dont have a backup battery in there, there will be a very annoying message that pops up everytime you turn it on reminding you to replace the battery. but at the same time, at least it tells you when you're low on battery.

programs are easily downloaded. you can even store music on it, but unless you put the music on an external memory card, there's not much room for more than a few songs.

overall i definately recommend.

Axim X5 Rocks! 2007-07-03
I bought mine in 2003. The little pda has been a constant companion of mine since then. I keep notes for work, play games, listen to music, read e-mail, surf the web, read ebooks, and watch movies. It is now four years and it is still going strong. I have used this device almost everyday. Yes, it is a little bigger than some pdas but it is durable and the battery has a good life. Also, if the battery life is not enough you can buy another battery for $5 on ebay and charge it in the second bay of the pda dock. Overall after four years I would call it outstanding.

Dell Axim 2007-05-13

I bought these 2 Dell Axim x5 they work great got them on time and in great condition. But this merchant could have a better return policy. I originally did not want them and asked what their return policy was they wouldn't take them back based on dislikes. But I would buy from this merchant again.

hand held 2007-01-27
i just like the little hand held. I have had no problems with purchased software for this little dell.

GRRREEEEAAAAT 2006-07-19
I have owned my Axim for about 3 years and I love it. Sure there are better looking PDA's out there (Palm & Sony) but I have to use MS Office for work and tend to use it at home as well so there was really no alternative. That said it is a good thing!!! I use mine for e-mail and browsing although browsing can be slow due to processing power. I added a CF Wifi card which is cool, I also found an external folding keyboard and docking station on e-bay at a great price. I used to use a Psion 5 cause it had an excellant keyboard but now I use the Dell all the time. Add a 256mb CF or SD and you have storage for a shed load of songs, the media player works great!!! I also wrote a book on it last year (which was published!!) I have used it with TomTom software and GPS which worked vey well. I have also sync'd my mobile (cell) phone with it to use as a modem and back up my contacts on that via IR although bluetooth works better. My only gripe is the back-up battery can drain very quickly and i have lost all info once but now keep regulary backed up to avoid this problem.

Screen Froze and No Option to Repair 2006-04-02
Up until recently I have enjoyed the Axim. That is, until the screen froze. It no longer responds to the stylus. I called Dell Tech Support (if you can call it that) and they told me THEY DO NOT REPAIR THE AXIM. My only two options were to trade in my existing Axim for the same model (yeah, right) which would cost me about $150, or buy a completely new pda. They don't even have a service dept. for the Axim. I couldn't believe that any company would put their name on a product and not stand behind it. DO NOT BUY DELL.
