After hours with tech support, email after email, and updating firmware there was no fixing the fact that this router makes for a SLOW connection!!! Don't waste your money!
Wonderful product

I have to say, i bought this product as it was cheap. After rebate i got it for $[...]. I expected it to work in two room apartment and for 6 months. Was thinking of buying a new one after I move to a new place. But its 4 years now and It still works. I get Good signal when i was 30 feet away and with 2 walls in between. I added DLink antenna and i get very good signal for this. I dont get Excellent in the farthest distance. Partly it could be because i have 2 cordless phone of same frequency (2,4 Ghz). With "Very Good" signal, my browsing was easy. Never felt its slow. Im very happy with this product. Setup is so easy. You could save your settings and track who is connected and bar connections based on IP/MAC and there are many more cool features too. The DLink support was also very good. I had to call them few times to get help in securing my network. I would rate 5. Would definetly recommend it.
Will waste your time like no other product

I have had this router for about two years, and it has never worked smoothly. The WPA-Personal implementation simply won't work, just like many of the advanced features in this unit. What is the purpose of including MAC address filtering if the router will have to be restarted every 10 minutes if you try to enable it? That is also true for many other settings in this router. By the way, every time a new device joins your network, it has to be restarted--it could be a laptop, a game console, even another D-Link product simply will not work on the first try. Spend a few dollars more and time and, ultimately, money.
Great Router for the $$$

I bought this a couple years ago and had no problems at all with it. It was VERY easy to install and gave a solid, reliable signal at all times.
Review of D-Link DI-514 Wireless Cable

My son was unable to estblish a reliable connection to this router from a straight line distance of less than 30 ft, albeit one floor down.
We ended up purchasing a Linksys wireless router and he has been able to connect wirelessly with both his PC and his Apple laptop.
Pretty good

Reboots and Disconnects

I had to return one DI-524 because it locked up and would not boot at all. Then, the one I received from D-Link did the same thing after a few days.
Now, the router works some of the time. However, now it will drop wifi connections or my Vonage connection. This router is going to the trash. I'm looking for a new router now.
Don't buy even if the price is $5

It crashs every day. Tech support sucks, you will waste your time by calling them. I wasted tenths of hours in calls and reseting the router.
My router was crashing every day, I call tech support, they asked to reset the device at least 5 times during a call waiting up to 15 min every time. They never accepted that it was defective. I just gave up. If you value your money and time don't purchase a D-Link product.
I got a Netgear and is working great, is a little bit more expensive but it worths.
It works, but some aspects are frustrating.

We got this router after having no luck with a Belkin router (a new family rule: no Belkin products enter the house). This one works, for which I give it one star. The other star is for its stability - most of the time there isn't any problem but around midnight every night the thing cuts out about every two minutes.
The other really annoying thing is probably not going to affect many other users, but I am running a webserver on my computer. When I try to access the pages from within the network, I get the message "401 The web site is blocked by administrator." I couldn't find anything except for other users getting the same message - nothing on D-Link's website (and I only found discussion on their German site). But it really angers me and I'm looking into another router.
It has served well for the past year or more, but it's aggravating to have the connection cut out so often (especially when gaming) and the signal from two rooms away is almost non-existant.
Nice Options to Select from, but has some performance issues

THE GOOD:
* There are a lot of configuration options if you choose to implement them.
o On big plus is that you can change the router's IP address to be something other 192.168.0.1 (Which is important if your cable modem or DSL modem use that address)
* Works right out of the box with a simple setup wizard. I was up and running with a basic installation in about 5 minutes.
* Has all of the security features you would expect on a router
* Range was ok
THE BAD::
* Constantly locked up the internet connection when transferring large files, such as when sending attachments in GMAIL or YAHOO Mail. This would require the system to be reset
* Many times wireless clients would not be able to connect unit the unit was reset
* Speed is only 11Mbs, (this is not terrible considering that it is still much faster than most home high speed networks)
OVERALL:::
* This is by no means a terrible product, but it is not the best either.
o The only way I would purchase this product is if I was purchasing it used. You can get much faster routers now for $20 to $50.
* If you really want to tinker with routers, I would bypass this one and go for the Linksys WRTG54. It runs a cut down version of Linux and there are several firmware upgrades you can do to it.
